Kenner ROTJ Ewoks

Image
You either love Ewoks, or you continue to curse George Lucas for creating them. I'm in the love them category, they were fuzzy little killer teddy bears as far as I was concerned. My ex-girlfriends loved them, especially Wicket! Surprisingly, only 4 Ewoks made it on to Return of the Jedi cards. Chief Chirpa As a kid, I thought Logray was the Ewok chief. But nope, I was wrong. Chief Chirpa was actually in charge, even if it looked like Logray was. He only has 4 POA, his arms and legs move. Sadly his head doesn't. But his accessories are removable. His staff easily fits in his right hand and his headdress is removable (they are on all Ewok figures that Kenner made). Chief Chirpa however has a belt that is molded onto the figure, as well as a necklace. Along with the sculpted fur, this is a pretty good action figure. Sadly, Hasbro last made Chief Chirpa in 2006, and he doesn't appear to be on Hasbro's future plans. But how can you have a tribe without a chief?! You can...

Mandalorian S3 Vintage Collection Wish List

The third season of The Mandalorian has come and is now gone. Honestly, this wasn't the best season. Aside from the final 2 episodes it's mostly a snoozer. Now here is your Spoiler Warning: I will be spoiling the 3rd season, so if you don't want tonbe spoiled, please don't read any further! But that doesn't mean that there aren't some characters who deserve action figures! Since the Black Series will likely get them first (The Mandalorian Fleet Commander figure has a neat removable rocket on his jetpack plus a removable helmet), this will be a wishlist for the Vintage Collection. This will not be in any particular order. 1. IG-12/Marshall IG-11. I see this as a deluxe figure simply because it's the only way Grogu can fit inside the late IG-11's chest. Hasbro has done something neat for the upcoming Mandalorian Speeder Bike release putting Grogu in a pouch, while he can't be removed from it you can still see him in it. As long as his head can turn, ...

Fan Fiction Prologue

This is a rough cut of my fan fiction prolouge. I don't own the characters, not seeking money, and am only using this for entertainment purposes. Also, some mature themes are implied.  Prologue Ren sat on his throne, and was attempting to calm the rage growing at the holographic image before him. The Pyke Syndicate representative had told him of what had happened to the Marshall of Freetown on Tattooine. Not the leader of the syndicate, but a lackey tells him this. A lackey! And to top it off, without coming to him for approval, the Pyke's hired Cad Bane to do the shooting. And now take their turn on Boba Fett, who had done Ren a favor by killing Bib Fortuna, and had taken over Jabba the Hutt's organization. "So let me get this straight." Ren said as calmly as possible. "You hired Cad Bane to kill a town Marshall because he interfered with a drop, and you now target Boba Fett because he approved the matter? Is that correct?" "Yes, but the Marsha...

Kenner Desert Skiff ROTJ Figures

Image
Some of the neatest toys from ROTJ come from not only Jabba's Palace, but also from the Skiff! The Skiff Guards continue showing off the different aliens in the Star Wars, and quite frankly are fun to put on your Vintage Kenner Tatooine Skiff, which if you have it, is worth a small fortune, or the Target exclusive from 2004-2006. It's one of those years, but a re-use of the original Kenner model. The one that came out in 2019-2020 is a far superior version, and has the actual plank that doesn't have a collapsing tip. But whatever version you have, you need figures to put on it! And of course, Kenner has you covered! So here are all the ROTJ carded Skiff Guard figures for your Skiff! Klaatu (1 of 2) There are 2 different versions of Klaatu on ROTJ cards. This figure is the basic version, he just comes with a staff. The face sculpting is quite well done, even the detail on his clothing is well done! When you take into account this figure is 40 years old, and still has good...

The Good Trip Nostalgia

Spoilers for the recent episode of Picard, so if you haven't seen it, and don't want to be spoiled about what happened, this is your one and ONLY warning! Please don't read beyond my opening paragraph! Okay?! Alright, good. Glad we got that out of the way. Now to get on topic. And the Picard spoilers will be further down in case you cheat, so again, don't blame me!! Nostalgia can be a good thing. When I do Kenner reviews, I go back to being a 5-6 year old and how I reacted when I saw, or better yet was able to get a Star Wars toy. I have other toy lines I enjoyed as a kid (Masters of the Universe, Super Powers, Secret Wars) and today as a collector (Star Wars, MOTU Origins). For me anyway, nostalgia is why I collect. Sure, the old figures are great, but the new figures from the Star Wars Vintage Collection and Masters of the Universe Origins give us the classic sizes of those older figures, but with better sculpting and articulation! Having Luke Skywalker and Darth Va...

New Fan Fiction Direction

I did a fan fiction a while back based off of a scene alteration that takes place during the Book of Boba Fett, based off of artwork depicting Ahsoka Tano at Vader's pyre site on Endor accompanied by Luke, Grogu, R2-D2 and Wicket W. Warrick. The original plan was to do a fan fiction story with Leia meeting Padme in a dream, and how that would change Leia's mind about Anakin Skywalker and finally accept him as her biological father, and in a way overcome the fears Leia privately had about the dark side, and also not wishing to complete her Jedi training so she could focus on establishing the New Republic Senate. But even from that description you could see the problem I had. Not only was I way in over my head, I just had writer's block on how I wanted to frame the story. Maybe one day I'll go back to it. But, there is another story I have planned, and that is what I will run with. Besides, I've already got how the story goes down, who's in it, and debuting a ch...

Kenner ROTJ Jabba's Palace Figures

Image
While I love doing Kenner reviews, sadly they are my least viewed posts. So instead of covering individual figures, I'm covering figures in scenes where they appeared. Since I've done Jabba the Hutt, Gamorrean Guard and Bib Fortuna, I felt it was good to continue my Kenner reviews by focusing on other characters in his Palace who were lucky enough to get action figures. Including a MASSIVE figure!! The Rancor This monster not only chowed down on Oola and a Gamorrean Guard (RIP), but tried to make Luke Skywalker his next meal! He has only arm and leg articulation, but also a movable jaw (Image from eBay seller Smokepants). He also has swivel wrists and swivel knees, but I would not try moving the knees, it doesn't really add to his play value, and you would probably only moves the legs back and forth anyway. There is a button on his back that moves the jaw. When the Rancor got released in 1998, Hasbro opted for a more realistic looking Rancor that ditched the swivel knees...

New VC & Black Series Reveals!

Image
Another Mando Mania reveal happened this past Tuesday, and this weekend Celebration London revealed a LOT of new stuff coming, and for a change I think it was a double home run for both Vintage Collection and Black Series collectors! While I had hoped to get pictures of all the reveals, sadly I can't as a lot of stuff broke on Saturday. My first reviews in each section are the Mando Mania reveals, followed by the other reveals being from SW Celebration London. Black Series Black Krrsantan!! Last year Hasbro did a Comic Book version of Black Krrsantan which was a repainted Chewbacca with newly sculpted armor.  Ugh. Horrible! So when Black Krrsantan was announced as a pipeline reveals a while back, many in the collecting community assumed that previous figure would be getting repacked. But today, no it isn't!! Now BK is a lot taller than Chewbacca, and has more bulk. Something this figure definitely has is the bulk, now whether he's taller than Chewbacca is another facto...

New Rey Skywalker movie/Ahsoka Series

On Good Friday, Disney showed off the new Ahsoka trailer. It looks great! The other big news is a new movie with Rey Skywalker and her new Jedi Order. So, what are my thoughts about these projects? You might honestly be surprised. So read on to find out! New Rey Skywalker Movie I don't know if this will be a trilogy or maybe a duology, or what. I'm writing this on a Friday/Saturday for Sunday publication so new info may come out before Sunday. Now inevitably Disney has to come back to this era, and they feel that now is the time to do it. Hopefully Disney has learned their lessons and will do the following: 1. Find a story and stick to it. 2. Character development!! 3. Be entertaining. That's what they need to do. Rey pretty much had everything easy in the Disney Trilogy. I would like to see her struggle with a student or friend who goes over to the dark side. Or deal with a new outside threat like the Yuuzhan Vong from Legends or the Grysk from Timothy Zahn's Ne...

My own VC March Madness Tournament!

Okay, since the NCAA Tournament and the SWTVC  March Madness is over (congrats to Count Dooku, this year's winner!), I thought I would do my own version of the VC March Madness but do actual regions, instead of just a list of figures. They are broken into 4 categories: Disney, OT, PT and Expanded Universe. But instead of 64, I will only do 32. So how to decide a winner? Coin toss. I was going to do a best 2 out of 3, but I'm lazy. One match up, one toss. The figures I have listed have yet to appear in the Vintage Collection and they must be all new sculpts, the same rule as the recent SW VC March Madness poll. So here are my contestants: Expanded Universe 1. Mara Jade (Vision of the Future cover) 2. Kyle Katarn (Jedi Knight) 3. Asajj Ventress (Clone Wars Microseries) 4. Clone Emperor (Dark Empire 1) 5. Kir Kanos 6. Infinities Dark Side Leia (ANH) 7. Jaina Solo 8. Rukh OT 1. Tatooine Luke 2. Tantive IV Leia 3. Ben Kenobi 4. Tonnika Sister (Brea or Senni) 5. Tato...
