Blog Updates

Originally I was going to make a post about the current state of Star Wars comics, which I have enjoyed in the past but now....not so much. But, I need to do some more research before making a proper post about it, so I have shelved it. I might post it next week. Instead, I'll just do a 'Coming Atteactions' style post. So here is what I am working on: Next Sunday: It's a 3 day weekend for most people in the US, and originally I had intended to not do a blog post next Sunday so I could not only relax and use the time to catch up on some figure reviews. Since collecting is slow lately, I'll do a VC review next week as I found something unexpectedly yesterday. Vintage Collection Reviews: Since Return of the Jedi 40th anniversary figures have for the most part are already out, I'll focus on whatever I have coming in which for now isn't a lot. So to make up for it I'll do some reviews on other lines I collect. Black Series Reviews: with a dead period in V

VC Cad Bane (BOBF)

Image
When Cad Bane debuted in the Clone Wars animated series, the collecting community wanted his action figure the very next day, and Hasbro made one for the Clone Wars animated series line, and you'll see a picture of that in this review. But when he made his live action debut in The Book of Boba Fett gunning down Cobb Vanth (who survived, spoiler alert: the deputy Bane shot didn't) VC collectors wanted his figure the next day as well. The Black Series got several Cad Bane's and now the VC has finally has one, and it's how he appeared on BOBF! Cad Bane had 2 figures from the Clone Wars animated line, for comparison sake I have a picture of the less popular 1st release below, as I was never able to find the more popular and articulated second version. Over the years, Cad has changed his look, but some things stay the same, like his wearing a hat, long coat and Mandalorian gauntlets and his defense mechanism for stopping Force chokes the pipes near his mouth. Cad sports th

VC Admiral Piett

Image
For a change, this week I'm doing 2 Vintage Collection reviews, and for what will be for now the last figure from Return of the Jedi (for a little while anyway) that I'll cover, so please read on as I review the new Admiral Piett action figure! Admiral Piett is the only Imperial officer seen in consecutive films, so when Hasbro finally made a new officer buck, it made sense for Hasbro to make Piett as the debut figure utilizing it. Now hardcore Star Wars fans will notice that Piett's rank bars do not show the correct rank, and they are correct. However all officers in ROTJ had the same rank bars, why I have no idea. Maybe to save money? But Piett having this makes him on screen accurate. For those wanting Piett to have his correct rank bars, Hasbro has an upcoming Imperial Officer 4 pack, showing off the newly promoted Admiral Piett from ESB, with his correct rank bars. Piett has 17 POA, and he has the new barbell style hips. The "skirt" is soft plastic and doe

What I Think We Will & Wont See In The Ahsoka Series

Image
Let's just get this out of the way, Disney has high expectations for the upcoming Ahsoka series. While Andor had largely positive reviews, hard core Star Wars fans had a more mixed view. Some liked it, some didn't. The only top selling action figure is the Phase II Clonetrooper. But I'm not talking toys. The Obi-Wan series and season 3 of The Mandalorian, as well as Book of Boba Fett had some good moments but flopped. Hard. Now with Ahsoka, the team that created the Mandalorian (and approved the stories for Season 3) they are the best Disney has right now. Fan opinions vary, of course. But there is no doubt all of Disney's chips are laid out on the table now. If Ahsoka isn't a hit, the future of Star Wars looks bleak. The anticipation level is as high as it was in 2015 for Episode 7. That's safe to say. Ahsoka Tano is a fan favorite character, and since Star Wars Rebels is still a popular series among fans, including this writer, finally seeing Hera, Sabine,

VC Endor Han Solo Review

Image
When collectors learned a new Endor Han Solo was coming, there was some initial excitement, until some details came out. In late 2021/early 2022 Hasbro had begun using new barbell style hip joints (similar to what Hasbro's 3.75 inch GI Joe's and Jazwares 4 inch Fortnite figures). But, well, Hasbro didn't do this for Han Solo. Now while this will sound like mostly a negative review, it isn't completely. There are some positive points about this figure, and I'll do my best to emphasize that. But Hasbro needs to have it pointed out to them that main characters (Luke, Han, Leia, Obi-Wan  Anakin, Padme, and yes even Rey, Finn, and Poe) deserve to be treated with all new sculpts. Han has 17 POA, and from the waist up is almost a new sculpt, although it does look like the upper body from VC 124 was used once again. I can safely say the head and arms are all brand new sculpts. The lower body is from VC 124 but painted brown, with yellow stripes. While movement isn't a

Chopper Disney Store Exclusive Review

Image
With the HasLab Ghost backed at over 8,000 plus at the time of this writing, Hera Syndulla will be coming soon. But there is one noticeable absence from the HasLab tiers, and that is Chopper! Now, Hasbro made a 3 POA Chopper that had no middle wheel, but around 2017 Disney Store changed that by making a fully articulated 1:18 scale Chopper! I found this on eBay before the prices got ridiculously high. So let me show you why this is the one you need (and hopefully will soon come on a Kenner style card). If you backed the HasLab, you need Chopper!! Chopper has 12 articulation points: a swivel dome, movable antenna, 2 swivel legs, 2 swivel ankles, 2 arms that swivel and bend at the elbows and wrists. He has more articulation than any astromech droid Hasbro has ever made in the 1:18 scale! His arms sadly can't fold inside his dome when not in use (but you can remove them if you like, I don't but you do you!), and he has a arm that can extend out his chest to be a data link so he
