VC Cad Bane (BOBF)
When Cad Bane debuted in the Clone Wars animated series, the collecting community wanted his action figure the very next day, and Hasbro made one for the Clone Wars animated series line, and you'll see a picture of that in this review. But when he made his live action debut in The Book of Boba Fett gunning down Cobb Vanth (who survived, spoiler alert: the deputy Bane shot didn't) VC collectors wanted his figure the next day as well. The Black Series got several Cad Bane's and now the VC has finally has one, and it's how he appeared on BOBF!
Cad Bane had 2 figures from the Clone Wars animated line, for comparison sake I have a picture of the less popular 1st release below, as I was never able to find the more popular and articulated second version. Over the years, Cad has changed his look, but some things stay the same, like his wearing a hat, long coat and Mandalorian gauntlets and his defense mechanism for stopping Force chokes the pipes near his mouth.
Cad sports the new normal 17 POA, and has the new barbell style hips so he can achieve a lot of poses, despite having the long coat. Below you can see the backpack for his choking defense, which does come out if you turn his head, but it does clip back in. His hands are really my only issue as they look too large, he can hold both his blasters, but not as straight as I'd like. His hat is removable as you can see in a picture from above, the good news is his hat does stay on quite well, and his blasters stay in the holsters despite looking like they could easily fall out. I attempted to get him to do his hat tip, but his arm just isn't long enough to pull it off, it's one of the pictures below this paragraph.
The sculpt and the paint apps are excellent! From the bullets on his belt, to the Freetown sand on his outfit, to the scowl on his face. No messy paint apps either, Hasbro has really improved here. They've set the bar high on their newly sculpted figures, which is why collectors want main characters to get the same treatment. This is a brand new sculpt head to toe, and it's one of the best figures made this year!
Now is he essential? If bounty hunters are your thing, and you have the deluxe BOBF Boba, yeah you need him to re-enact their dual from the BOBF finale. For me, he's a character I've wanted since I saw him on Clone Wars, so he was an easy buy. If you want him try Hasbo Pulse, Entertainment Earth or Big Bad Toy Store before Amazon or eBay since he'll be at retail price on those 3 sites. You don't need to pay more than retail price for him since he's a recently released figure. But since the VC is a world building scale, we need a Cobb Vanth figure for him to dual with as well. The Black Series has a 2 pack of that, and doing the same for the VC would be a good idea. But I recommend this figure, but remember he's accurate to BOBF and not his animated Clone Wars era he's most known for, and hopefully a CW version comes soon because I see another reason to use this newly tooled figure to make another figure.
