Now I know what some of you are going to say: why is Jyn Erso spooky?! Well, for VC fans in 2018 Jyn was warming many pegs because Wal Mart had just put her 3.75 inch Black Series figure on their incredible $4 clearance sale, and in some instances you could get the $4 Jyn and the $12 VC Jyn. Sporting 16 POA, Jyn as well as the Cassian Andor, Shoretrooper and Deathtrooper offered something new to SA 3.75 inch figures: thigh swivels. The ball socket hips, in addition to the thigh swivels enable Jyn to be posed in some neat action poses, and you don't have to worry about her holster inhibiting movement as it flows effortlessly with the right leg/hip. Jyn is also simply painted, but there are no smudges and everything looks clean, as it should. Accessory wise, Jyn has something her then 6 inch Black Series counterpart didn't have: add on pieces to turn her pistol into a sniper rifle.   In 2015's Episode 7, besides Kylo Ren the character who fascinated me the most was Supreme Leader Snoke. Who was he? Was he Darth Plaugeis? In 2017's Episode 8 well, he got killed off. What a waste. But surprisingly, he is not a bad figure. The 1st wave of the VC relaunch in April 2018 wasn't a great wave, but Snoke stood out anyway. Plus in keeping with spooky/scary theme for Halloween I thought now would be the time to cover the deformed and scarred Supreme Leader of the Empire, um, First Order. Right off the bat, Snoke has 16 POA, and fits in with all the modern (2018-present) VC figures. If he had the barbell neck joint and not a ball joint head he would have 17 POA. As you'll see in the photos he can be seated in the Throne Room in the BB-8 Playset which is what I use to shoot my photos.   With Halloween being a day away, for a change up I wanted to look in on when Star Wars went supernatural. And there really isn't that many times that they did. A novel, a few characters who have unnatural abilities, that's it. Another thought was to do a fan fiction type thing but, no. Of course the scariest Star Wars has been is the entire sequel trilogy, and I don't need to go over that. Not many current Canon stories are "scary". Well I mentioned some but won't do it again. The closest thing in Disney Canon to supernatural is Darth Momin's and Exim Panshard's maks which possessed whoever wore them, bringing those long dead individuals back from the dead, but in time killing the host.   If you're reading this, you know how my favorite character in Star Wars is Luke Skywalker. And, if they make a figure of him, I usually buy one. But sometimes.....I wonder why I did!? Which is how I felt when I bought a loose and incomplete Endor Luke. Luke comes with a poncho, a belt and the same Skiff Guard blaster his Jabba's Palace version did. But, this figure does NOT come with a lightsaber (the theory is that the POTF R2-D2 that has the pop up lightsaber would be the one parents would buy along with this Luke. Even though R2 doesn't hold Luke's lightsaber on Endor). But that actually isn't bad. The bad? The helmet on Luke is molded on! Leia came with a removable helmet. Luke? Nope. Luke sports the typical 5 POA of the Kenner days. But what truly separates this Luke from the Jabba's Palace version is that he wears the outfit that he duels Vader on the Second Death Star.   Mandalorians sell! Which is why the VC is partially doing well in sales, especially from The Mandalorian series. Strangely Hasbro went an exclusive route with Axe Woves, as they did for Koska Reeves. Which surprised me, but he had a small role so I guess Hasbro didn't think he merited a general release. Axe shares the same buck as the Mandalorian Death Watch Trooper so I will also present it here since they are the same figure, aside from paint, and Axe having a removable helmet while DW Mando doesn't have a removable helmet, or unhelmeted head. First up is the Death Watch Mandalorian, who will have the same articulation as Axe Woves. DW Mando has 17 POA, and has absolutely no issues with mobility.   In October of 2012, I came home and got on social media and found out that not only had George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney, but that the long awaited Episode 7 would be coming in December of 2015! To say I was excited was an understatement! Well, aside from Han dying in Episode 7 it wasn't that bad, but what came after that, well, I don't like talking about it. But what this meant was that the books and comics that had come out were now moved under the Legends banner as Disney set on a new course for Star Wars. New comics, books and of course movies! But one thing was for certain, everything we had known since 1991 was over. So now it has been 10 years. What is better, what is worse? Contrary to some people, there have been some good things with Disney Star Wars. I'll give letter grades at the end of the topics.   This year, next year and the year after are significant anniversary years for Hasbro. Heck, so is 2025 (Revenge of the Sith's 20th Anniversary, and some say that is the best film in the Saga). I've done the AOTC & ROTJ anniversary ideas Hasbro can do for the VC, but since it takes 18 months to plan toylines, I thought I'd share what I would like Hasbro to do for the 25th Anniversary of Episode I The Phantom Menace. The Sixers will get the good stuff, but the Vintage Collection needs some love as well. And by all accounts it seems Hasbro is giving the 40th anniversary of ROTJ some VC love. But silver anniversaries are ones Hasbro should go all out for! BASIC FIGURES 1. Qui-Gon Jinn. This should be a newly tooled figure.
