Nothing "New" This Week

Image
So I have nothing this week. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Time was spent all week at work. Matthew Robinson will pen Rogue Squadron, the next Star Wars film to hit theaters in December of 2023. I have a few posts ready, but I don't want to use them all up at once. My Vintage Kenner action figure reviews will start next week, and will be starting with the Early Bird figures, kicked off by Luke Skywalker! I'm still plotting out my fan fiction. Working on part 2 plot. Once I'm done plotting the trilogy the prologue will be posted here. To apologize for my lack of material, here is a picture of Luke, R2 & Grogu. May The Force Be With You!

RIP Retail Shopping & Exclusives

It's time for retail action figures to die. I never thought I'd write this. I didn't want to. But I have to. For many years, collectors and kids who want toys have noticed the lack of new toys at toy racks. Hasbro has had this problem for years, clogged distribution. Mattel, Playmates, McFarlane & Spin Masters (the last 2 not so much) all have these problems, some more than others. Collectors have turned to online toystores: eBay, Amazon, Big Bad Toy Store, Entertainment Earth & Dorkside Toys. Hasbro has their Hasbro Pulse online store, Mattel has Matty Collector. The success of these online stores could also be a reason why brick and mortar stores don't have as many action figures. With this happening, brick and mortar stores get online exclusives. Wal Mart had Din Djarin and Grogu for the VC, Target had the same for the Black Series. How many of you actually saw those items IN STORE?! Very few, if any. It isn't just Star Wars. Mattel is having issues w

Retro Return of the Jedi Wish List

As you know, Hasbro has been making Kenner style figures for A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back and The Mandalorian, the latter of which is from mostly all new molds. For fans of the old Kenner toys they are fun to own...If you could find them. Target had the ANH ones and they were hard to find. I found Yoda & Boba Fett, the only 2 I wanted from ESB at Wal Mart and have found the Mandalorian figures at both Target and Wal Mart. They can also be preordered at online stores (EE, BBTS & Dorkside). But while I don't know if Return of the Jedi is next, I do have a wish list of what I would like to see. It will be 12 figures, not all of which will be produced. I will also do Retro wish lists for the prequels, sequels, and the Droids and Ewoks 1980's animated series as well! For ROTJ, here are who I think gets figures: 1. Palpy 2. Jabba's Palace Luke 3. Emperor's Royal Guard 4. Bib Fortuna 5. Wicket 2, possibly 3 more figures could get added. But with the Ret

Black Series 2nd Worst & 3rd Best

Black Series 3rd Best & 2nd Worst 2nd Worst First Order Stormtrooper. This isn't bashing the sequel trilogy, so please no hate for me there. This figure just stinks. The paint apps are sloppy, the chest joint is way too loose, he can barely stand and cannot hold his blaster rifle well at all! But there are some good points, he can hold the pistol quite well, and the thigh notch can hold both the blaster and pistol. Now that Hasbro has remade the OT Stormtrooper with enhanced articulation and the Sith Trooper, Hasbro really needs to do the same for this figure. I have a ton of these thanks to the $4 Wal Mart clearance, where this was an exclusive. https://www.jedibusiness.com/figureDetails.aspx?id=3540 3rd Best Deathtroopers Rogue One showed us Deathtroopers in the trailer and I knew I needed tons of these figures IMMEDIATELY!!! For a change, the 3.75 inch toyline got something the 6 inch line didn't: the pauldron. But also the 6 inch line got something the 3.

10. Sith Trooper

Sith Trooper At 10th is the best figure for troop building, IMO, the Sith Trooper! So why is he better than the standard Stormtrooper?! It's all in the details. Like the detail in the armor, the various etchings that they had on film are captured quite well in the one true scale. The paint apps are also well done as none of mine have any paint smears or smudges. The articulation (17 POA) is also incredible, and the new double ball neck and head joint are really growing on me now. He comes with a blaster rifle and a large blaster rifle, the latter I haven't been able to get him to hold properly. The standard rifle fits best in his right hand. Amazon sold an exclusive that came with more weapons if you want to have more to play with. If you wanted to make a squad leader you can take a pauldron from the Shadowtrooper and give it to a Sith Trooper easily by removing the head. I would hope this figure will one day serve as an inspiration for Hasbro to go back and remake the First

June 12 Blog Update

Blog Update The fan fiction is not on hold, but I've had to start over. Remember this will be told via plot outline so it takes a while, but I have to do a better job of being descriptive which is my biggest weakness as a "writer". Once I finish the Prologue I'll post it. Be gentle if you don't like it. :) I have decided to cover the classic Kenner line, and will do so starting in July. The figures, vehicles and playsets! All of it! I'll start with the 1st 4 that came in the Early Bird package in 1978, then go from there. Already I'll have a couple year's worth of blog posts on that alone! I am starting my VC Top 10 as I finish off the final 10. I've done them on social media just not here. I will also start talking Star Wars Legends novels and comic books here, plus some Disney Canon comic books which are some of the best new stories so expect me to talk a LOT about Darth Vader. I will also show off new and old customs here from time to

If you are a Star Wars collector, yesterday was a GREAT day! If your preference is Mission Fleet, Black Series, or Vintage Collection you were smiling. I'll quickly touch on all properties plus post a link where you can see pictures of ALL the reveals. Mission Fleet. The kid friendly line Hasbro has been trying to have success in has been a surprise hit! Bo Katan comes with her Gauntlet Fighter was the highlight, as was Moff Gideon's folding wing TIE Fighter.  This line is the best chance at getting new and affordable vehicles making it also appeal to collectors. Black Series. Last year, it was completing the crew of The Ghost. Now, it's about finishing the Rogue One crew. Jyn, Cassian (only available as an exclusive), Baze & Chirrut get photo real updates plus we finally get Bodhi Rook! K-2SO also is back, with the correct eye color thus time. Coming as Target exclusives are Galen Erso and Anton Merric. Also back is ANH Leia, Darth Revan (Sith) and a 501st Clonetro

Fan Fiction Update

Originally, I was indefinitely shelving my sequel trilogy Retcon fan fiction because I couldn't fit it into 3 parts, it ended up being 6 parts and I don't have the patience for it. So I put it off. Then I thought it would be a pipe dream. So I challenged myself to find another story. But then I kept going back to Rey time traveling. So I did what anybody who has something stuck in his head would do: I made a quick action figure custom (pics to come next week) of Rey, and suddenly I had inspiration! My initial idea flew out of my head and onto my notepad. Suddenly I had 3 stories, ready to go with a general guide. And just like that, I had my fan fiction. I will publish a prologue dealing with Rey and Finn (Finn isn't going to survive, sadly. But he can live in the new timeline 😁). One of the biggest challenges was what to do with Rey's last name. There is no way she can call herself Rey Skywalker, or Rey from Jakku, Rey Nowhere, Rey Nobody, etc. But it didn't occ

Why the Sequel Trilogy will one day be loved.

I don't like the sequel trilogy. Now that we know there was no plan, fans like me who were called racist, sexist and haters of women because we didn't like it can feel vindicated. Personally, I don't know anyone who hated the sequels because of Finn, Rey, Rose or Poe. Their characters were poorly written. But what about the sequel trilogy fans? Are they Star Wars fans? Of course! Embracing something you enjoy should not be hindered by what others think of it. That goes for fans of Twilight, Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc etc. When the prequels came out, I liked them. I didn't like them as much as the OT, but I knew George Lucas was telling a story, and we knew Obi-Wan, Anakin/Vader, Threepio and Artoo would survive. It took a lot of drama out of it, but I liked it. Fans then, not so much. Hasbro after 2005 focused on OT products (sound familiar?!) & sprinkled in a prequel character a few times. Now, the prequels are beloved by fans. The Clo

1st Worst & 4th Best 3.75 Black Series

The 4th Best and Worst 1st of the  3.75 Black Series The worst figure in the 3.75 inch Black Series is the Wal Mart exclusive Darth Vader. Sigh. Vader is a character who consistently sells very well once he hits store shelves. Just not in this case. This is a repacked version of the 500th Vader that came in a replica of his meditation chamber, however the top part of his helmet that was removable is glued shut. To add insult, he has swivel elbows. The Black Series was supposed to be the premier figures, the best of the bunch. Instead in 2015 we got a repacked figure from 2004. Yay. The 4th best 3.75 inch Black Series figure is Luminara Unduli. From her appearance in Revenge of the Sith, she looks amazing! She comes with a lightsaber, cloak and removable headdress. Her cloth skirt cannot be removed. An improvement over her 2005 version is ball jointed elbows, and a more screen accurate appearance. Under her headdress is graying hair as the Clone Wars have taken their toll in adv

The best/worst 3.75 Black Series

The Worst and Best of the 3.75 inch Black Series For a twist on countdowns I will be doing a bad news/good news scenario. For the bad news I'll count up 1 through 4, while on the good news I'm counting down 4 to 1. It's something different. Also different is the figures, I planned on sticking to only Wal Mart exclusives but the mainline Black Series had a couple bad figures in it as well as a couple of the best. I plan on starting the countdown once per week and will post them on Sunday's!
