Hasbro Star Wars Livestream Recap

Image
This past Tuesday, Hasbro did their 1st livestream of 2024, and I had high hopes....that completely fell through. My fault for being optimistic! Now, it wasn't all bad, for a change the VC had more reveals than the Black Series, and I will cover the Black Series figures revealed and give my thoughts on them, as well as the VC reveals, and of course the most fun part of the livestream: pipeline reveals! BLACK SERIES REVEALS 1. Grand Admiral Thrawn.  From the Ahsoka series we have our 1st live action Thrawn, and to say it was so artistically done is an understatement! And if you caught my reference to his final line in The Last Command, bravo! The face sculpt looks great, and there is a newly tooled torso and legs to look different from the original Black Series Thrawn. This looks to be a great figure, but you're not getting him until 2025. 2. Phase I Clonetrooper.  Utilizing the new Clonetrooper buck, this is the 1st clean Phase I Clonetrooper offered in the Black Seri...

Hera Syndulla VC Review

Image
My first VC review of 2024, finally! Hasbro announced Hera Syndulla to be the coveted number 300 for the Vintage Collection and let's just say collectors reaction to it was mixed. Some, like me felt that Darth Revan should have been it. Others were okay, and having both figures in hand, Hasbro made the right choice. Next week I'll offer my thoughts on Darth Revan. Now please read on for my review, and references to Sir-Mix-A-Lot's hit song "Baby Got Back!" Hera has all the basics of modern VC figures, 17 POA, barbell hips, etc. She is depicted from the live action Ahsoka series, and as you can see in the photos above it's very easy to pose her in action scenes, and she can fit in my Millennium Falcon pilot seat, and should have no trouble fitting in the HasLab Ghost if you backed it. The paint apps are well done, even showing the patterns on her lekku (aka head tails, she is a Twi'lek after all!). Her lone accessory is her blaster, which fits best in her...

The Random Post of Randomness

Image
Hello, readers! I hope the title caught your attention, as this week I have been super busy with my day job, and while I had time to do (some) photos, I have no time to write a review. However, I thought I would use this time instead to be a random post about random Star Wars topics. Back in the day I used to post on the CommanderBond.net forums, and one of my favorite threads was called "The Random Thread of Randomness". The rules were simple, just post something random. That's it! And since I have little time on my hands, I thought it would be fun to just wing it. At the end, I'll have a preview of upcoming Vintage Collection reviews.  FAN FICTION IDEAS 1. Old Man Luke finds a way to go back to Endor shortly after the fall of Ben Solo, his purpose is to undo the events of just after Endor, and delay Leia and Han's wedding. He meets his younger self and together they go on a journey to rebuild the Jedi. 2. Rey goes back in time immediately after Episode 9, and ...

Fan Expo NOLA Recap

Image
Last weekend I attended Fan Expo New Orleans, and had a good time! I had reservations about going after last year's experience which I'll go into during this post. Plus, I'll give a list of some of the celebrities that were there, but also give some advice on what Fan Expo can improve on, as this is my 2nd time attending after they took over operations from Wizard World. And I have to say this in defense of Fan Expo, they did a much better job with the layout, and while they still need some more vendors, other things are out of Fan Expo's control.  WHAT NEEDS TO IMPROVE  1. Additional tickets for panels. The Hobbit actors from Lord of the Rings were there, and normally they would have a panel in the main theater. But at Fan Expo, they did a panel, but you had to pay to get a guaranteed seat, and it was an almost after hours event. Also there were Peter Cullen and Frank Welker, best known as the voices of Optimus Prime & Megatron (among the hundreds of other charact...

My SWTVC March Madness Top 25

So I've finally gotten around to making my Top 25 for the SWTVC March Madness Tournament, and as a a reminder, the final day to get your Top 25 list is January 31st! When making your list, 1 is the most desired, with 25 being the least desired. So here is my list, with an explanation why they're ranked at their position. Some obvious omissions are Luke and Han from ANH because I think they'll both be in March Madness, and I did my best to spread it across the 9 episodic movies, plus video games and other expanded universe material. And as Casey Kasem said: "On with the countdown!" 1. Joruus C'baoth. He's my top choice because he's coming to the Black Series, and he's a Legends character. Plus since we have Thrawn, I want a C'baoth to better interact with him. This would have been Legends Thrawn, but due to the rules he couldn't be made as there is already an officer buck. 2. Mara Jade. You may have noticed my Legends trend, and you'd...

SWTVC & SWS 2024 March Madness Tournament Begins

Every year, the SWTVC on Instagram does a Vintage Collection version of March Madness. If you want to join in on the voting, I'll add the article from BanthaSkull which has the Google Form link in it. And due to my attendance at Fan Expo New Orleans, I don't have an article completely ready to go, so once again, I'll do my own March Madness event settled by, you guessed it, coin flips! I will also be participating in the SWTVC March Madness poll and will do my Top 25 on here, since I want everyone who reads this to participate in that. For SWTVC, it's easy to do: make a list, in order of preference, of 25 characters you want to see as figures. For me, this is hard since I want all of these figures! For the Tonnika Sisters and Two Tubes, they will be counted as one figure. To participate in the SWTVC March Madness, click on the link below: https://www.banthaskull.com/story/news-vintage-collection-march-madness-2024-submit-your-top-25 And if you want to vote for your ...
