Hera Syndulla VC Review

My first VC review of 2024, finally! Hasbro announced Hera Syndulla to be the coveted number 300 for the Vintage Collection and let's just say collectors reaction to it was mixed. Some, like me felt that Darth Revan should have been it. Others were okay, and having both figures in hand, Hasbro made the right choice. Next week I'll offer my thoughts on Darth Revan. Now please read on for my review, and references to Sir-Mix-A-Lot's hit song "Baby Got Back!"

Hera has all the basics of modern VC figures, 17 POA, barbell hips, etc. She is depicted from the live action Ahsoka series, and as you can see in the photos above it's very easy to pose her in action scenes, and she can fit in my Millennium Falcon pilot seat, and should have no trouble fitting in the HasLab Ghost if you backed it. The paint apps are well done, even showing the patterns on her lekku (aka head tails, she is a Twi'lek after all!). Her lone accessory is her blaster, which fits best in her right hand and easily stays in the holster, so if you store or display her loose you won't lose it. Unless you drop it.

Now in the picture above, is why this figure has the "attention" it's getting. Sir-Mix-A-Lot would be proud of that backside! Or as Trace Adkins would sing: she's got that Honky Tonk Badonkadonk! But don't let that distract from how good the sculpt head to toe is. Hera resembles the actress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead, aka Mrs Ewan McGregor, aka Obi-Wan) quite well, especially her face. Another plus of this figure is it's possible to get some female pilots made from this buck, as Hera is wearing pants a New Republic (or Rebel Alliance) pilot might wear. Her jacket, and jacket emblem also look good  and doesn't inhibit the upper body movement. I don't know if the jacket vest is removable but I don't want to try it because then the figure would look odd.

Now, is Hera essential to your collection? If you're OT focused, then no. But if you're a fan of Star Wars Rebels and the Ahsoka series, then yes. If you backed The Ghost, and don't want to open the included Hera figure, then you definitely need her in your collection. The good news is if you're waiting on characters from Rebels in the VC, Hera has company with Sabine, and Chopper (below is the Droid Depot Chopper, not the VC version). Zeb, Kanan and Ezra are coming sometime this year so you will have your Ghost crew to man the ship, or be a part of your Rebels display. This wouldn't have been my choice for VC 300, but to mark the milestone Hasbro picked a great figure, and one I don't regret adding to my collection.
