Palpatine VC 200 & Throne Room Playset Review

Yes, this is a 2 part review, so I'll start with the base figure first. The VC 200 Palpatine is a re-use of the VC 86 Darth Sidious figure from The Pahntom Menace. He still has 14 POA, has a cloth body robe, and a vinyl hood for his head. However, this time Palpy has a brand new head sculpt, and his skin color is painted a grayish tone. His face is sculpted with an angry expression, similar to the ROTS Darth Sidious. Palpatine comes with his cane, and hands that have lightning shooting out. Swapping hands is quite easy, and does not damage the figure at all. Both figures are well sculpted and painted. The new head sculpts are simply amazing! Hasbro has found a way to get better at using photo real technology in the 3.75 inch scale, and here it shows! There are no issues with moving the joints, and the cloth robes do not hinder movement whether you pose him standing up or sitting down. Despite using an older body sculpt, this figure still looks good in 2021. Now onto the Throne

Blog Update

I haven't posted a lot lately, so here's a quick update. I am in the process of getting a new computer so I can keep my posts there and upload them here. I'm also hoping to put actual pictures in some posts instead of linking to websites, which can help illustrate my figure reviews. So, here is what I'm working on: Vintage Collection: VC 200 Palpatine & Throne Room Playset Review Endor Leia Kenner 1978 Death Star Droid & R5-D4 Hammerhead Walrus Man Greedo and wrapping up Star Wars cards: Boba Fett! I'll throw in comic reviews, book reviews and will do more Vintage Collection wish lists, and throw in more Legends content plus hype up Disney Canon stuff I like and find interesting. Thank you, and May the Force Be With You!

Are Star Wars Collectors Spoiled?

Well simply put, yes. We are a bunch of spoiled brats. To compare, I will talk about Star Trek collecting, and what I have seen from both properties over the 30 plus years I have collected both products. I don't want people reading this thinking I am bashing Star Trek or Star Wars Collectors, far from it. I find Trekkers are just as, if not more passionate than Star Wars fans in wanting their collectables to be high quality, and available. It's just taken longer for Star Wars Collectors to reach the level of Star Trek. So in this post, I will analyze how collectors are in many ways spoiled and why sometimes we can't have nice things because we want perfection. Well, if you keep wanting and searching for perfection, you'll always be disappointed. Do a search on major toy or collectable websites and you will see Star Wars outnumbers Star Trek by a mile. Easily. There is a lot more. That used to not be the case but when that was, many of you, including the writer were no

Maul (Mandalore)

Ever since he appeared in the teaser trailer for The Phantom Menace, Star Wars fans knew they needed Darth Maul action figures in their collection. Same with his 1st appearance in the movie as a hologram. This Sith Lord would be different. But, he met his end via Obi-Wan Kenobi. That is until Season 5 of the Clone Wars. No longer a Darth, he is just now Maul. Maul is depicted from his Season 7 appearance in The Clone Wars from the series final 4 episodes. Hasbro opted for a realistic style head sculpt and not an animated version (same with Ahsoka).  He has 17 POA, wonderfully sculpted and has clean paint apps. So the perfect figure? Nope. Having opened 2 figures, I have found both figures have the same problem: the right hip is way too tight. While it is possible to place Maul in an action pose, it is hard to do. My suggestion if you buy and open this is to place him in just boiled water for about a minute and he should be fine. You also shouldn't have to do this, but sometimes q

Greedo/Walrus Man Kenner Reviews

Now I cover 2 of my favorite figures that sadly, I never owned! While one figure is a named character on film, the other is named by Kenner, as it wouldn't be until West End Games in 1987 gave Walrus Man a name: Ponda Baba. So today, it's Greedo and Walrus Man getting a quick review. Greedo has IMO, the BEST head sculpt in the Kenner era. It looks spot on! Sadly, Kenner didn't sculpt the outfit he wore onscreen. However back then there was this thing called imagination which meant this could be Greedo, nor another alien from his species who wore a similar colored outfit (squint your eyes and go frame by frame in the 1977 version and you'll notice him). He comes packed with Han Solo style blaster, and is one figure I wish I had.  https://galacticfigures.com/figureDetails.aspx?id=1971 Walrus Man has a good head sculpt. Also the outfit he wears is a Kenner original as they didn't have a lot of photos on this character. Many fans assume this is Ponda Baba, and he m

Leia, meet Qi'ra (No Spoilers)

In the most recent arc from the current Marvel Star Wars comics, a major crossover event, War of the Bounty Hunters (WOTBH) took place. Making her grand reappearance in the timeline was Qi'ra last seen in Solo talking to Maul. Since Maul is long dead at this point, Qi'ra runs the Crimson Dawn criminal organization. In the WOTBH, Qi'ra is able to acquire Han, still frozen in Carbonite, and auctions him off to the highest bidder, but of course Boba Fett gets him back and delivers him to Jabba. No spoilers so okay to read on. But what of Qi'ra? Well in Star Wars issue 18, she finally meets the new love of Han's life, Leia. And needless to say, I'm glad it was Charles Soule writing this than Marvel's other Star Wars writers. She and Leia dance around each other quite well. Lando and soon Leia realize Qi'ra is playing a new game. That new game comes in the new Crimson Reign storyline, coming soon. Admittedly, I like Qi'ra as the villain here. While it w
