Skywalker Sunday: Anakin, Padme & Luuke VC Reviews
For this weekend, I'll be reviewing 3, yes, 3 Vintage Collection figures. And they're all related! The new Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala figures to complement the HasLab Gunship have arrived, and if you're looking for them in stores, Gamestop is your best bet. Plus, there is another Skywalker. Sort of. To find out, read on!
VINTAGE COLLECTION ANAKIN SKYWALKER AND PADME AMIDALA
Anakin and Padme are both partially tooled "new" figures. Padme is a retool of the AOTC version that came out earlier this year, while Anakin borrows parts from his ROTS versions. On the back of Padme's card, it's a recreation of one of the promotional shots featuring Natalie Portman. For reference:
And to show the previous versions of these figures released this year:
PADME
There isn't much of a difference between this Padme and the one from earlier this year. Now, her clothing is ripped in the back, she has back scars, but no blood. Her hair is also messed up, as she was onscreen for the "aggressive negotiations" scene in the Geonosis Arena as the firefight raged around her and Anakin. She still has the same 17 POA, but with the addition of up/down swivels on her wrists. As you can see in the comparison photo above, the wrists on the new Padme are bulkier. It does look...different. Her bare arm is painted flesh colored, so it's basically the same arm as the original, but with a new paint job.
Padme comes with a Battle Droid blaster, which after some effort can fit in her right hand, albeit very loosely. Plus, getting her into poses is easy. Her joints aren't too tight, so there wasn't a need to put her in just boiled water to move any joints. But what stands out the most to me is her head sculpt. It's basically a mini version of a 21 year old Natalie Portman. And who wouldn't want that to display?! I have to say it's better than the original one. This Padme is definitive for any Geonosian Arena display as the battle begins.
ANAKIN
If there is a complaint, it's that the head sculpt isn't as good on the AOTC Anakin as the ROTS Anakin. That doesn't mean that I don't enjoy this figure. Aside from the head and forearms, this is also a partially tooled "new" figure.
Anakin doesn't have a robe, but he does have a swappable left hand, which can easily snap in and out. For once, I wasn't worried about breaking it when I swapped it out. And while I'm not reviewing the AOTC Obi-Wan, his hands are just as easy to swap out. Anakin also comes with a lit and unlit lightsaber hilt. The lightsaber he comes with is the first one he built, which got destroyed in the Geonosian factory as he attempted to rescue Padme. However, the hilt made me uncomfortable attempting a THWG. (Writer's note: BanthaSkull commentor Tannith showed that Anakin can do a THWG) I've been told that Padme can do a THWG by MAKMCSWF, aka Jason (also please subscribe to his YouTube channel if you haven't already!). And unlike Obi-Wan, Anakin's sleeves don't take away too much wrist motion.
Forgive my mess in the 1st photo above, I didn't notice that I had some of the figures and a Snake Eyes vs Storm Shadow mini comic visible. But as you can see, setting up Anakin and Padme for battle is easy. And yes, that is the new Super Battle Droid figure with my 1999 B1's. I'll review that figure either next month or in January. But we have 2 definitive Mains from AOTC. While I had hoped Obi-Wan and Anakin would come with the lightsabers they used in the Arena, I'm glad they didn't. It probably sets up a possible 3 pack with both Jedi plus Count Dooku. The Obi-Wan figure, from head to knees is brilliant. But, get Anakin and get this Padme!
LUUKE SKYWALKER
To be honest, I never in all my years of collecting did I think this figure would ever get made. Sure, we got Thrawn and Mara Jade, but the Clone of Luke Skywalker?! Never! I've used the comic pack Dark Empire Luke as my "clone" Luke for years. But with the Joruus C'baoth figure getting made a couple years ago, this is a figure we should have seen coming. The card image is from the comic adaptation of The Last Command, so there wasn't a lot of images to pull from.
Luuke makes his debut in the One True Scale, but had a Sixer version first. However, the VC version is much closer to the adaptation than the Sixer is, so take that Sixers!!! Luuke has the standard 17 POA, and his lower tunic doesn't badly inhibit the leg movements, as you'll see in the photos below.
He's easy to move around, and has decent balance, but in the motion shot I did lean him against the back wall just in case he would tip over. He stands well on his own, however. But a display stand isn't a bad idea for loose displays. No joints issues either, I guess for all my complaints about too tight joints, Hasbro has corrected that issue. But if you do get a figure with tight joints, place it in just boiled water, and make sure what you put the water in (I use an old glass measuring cup) isn't something you eat or drink off of. I attempted a close up shot of his face, which is supposed to mirror the insanity of Master C'baoth, as he's the one controlling the Clone Luke's actions. But his sculpt should look familiar.
Luuke shares tooling with Ben Kenobi, but with different legs. His knees and boots border on ROTS & AOTC Obi-Wan, which for a minor character like this I can forgive. But if this was done for Jedi/Endor Luke I'd be EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! Clone Luke has some decent accessories, when the prototype was shown he had the incorrect lightsaber. For the release, he comes with the proper lightsaber, both lit and unlit. He also comes with a blue robe, as shown in the comic adaptation. However the hood is sewn down, so it can't fit over his head. But it is easy to remove. BanthaSkull commentor ShipGirlLover showed off a head swap with ANH Luke, so if you want him to look normal, or be another Jedi Luke, you can make it happen. I actually saw this figure in Gamestop, but you may want to order from Pulse, Amazon, EE or BBTS if you want to get this.
I did my best to recreate the comic page, drawn by the late, great Edvin Biukovic. Edvin's last Star Wars works before he unexpectedly passed away was the adaptation of The Last Command. So I have Jedi Training Luke, customized of course with some gloss black paint on the belt and boots, plus I clipped the braid on the belt and added a silver "buckle". Luuke in his ready to strike move, and C'baoth seated awaiting the battle to begin. With my custom Black Series Mara Jade ready to move in. So, Hasbro, we need a Mara Jade in the VC to finish this scene! Use the Merrin sculpt, or a Tonnika Sister sculpt, or Fennec would be great to re-use for Mara. Collectors like me have wanted one for years. Come on Hasbro, how cool would this look?!

To wrap up the reviews, all 3 of these figures are definitive. I highly recommend Anakin and Padme, and Luuke may not be your cup of tea, but as someone who has a longer wish list for Star Wars Legends than any other source, it's a dream come true. And it's safe to say that one, or all three, will make my Best of 2026 blog post coming next month.
LAGNIAPPE SECTION
1. Last Figure Standing showdowns will come next week, or my next blog post.
2. My final blog post of 2026 will be the Best Of 2026, and I want it done before Christmas. I may or may not take January off, as there are Comic Con's, plus there isn't much "new" stuff out. But I do have figures I haven't opened that I may review to fill in the time.
3. I picked up the Sixer Lord Starkiller, and it's an amazing figure! Plus it's the last Sixer I plan on getting, unless Xizor turns up on a heavy discount, or I see Reva or the Fifth Brother at Ollie's and get an idea to do a head swap, or the Seventh Sister. This is nearly where I am collecting the VC. But I'm not done. Yet.
Thanks for reading! A special thanks to Chris and Nomad at BanthaSkull for allowing me to post this in the comments section! Please share this link on your social media accounts so I can get more readers!
