What's New
Now that I'm done with the VC Top 25 in 2025, I've had a lot of new stuff arrive, and just couldn't cover it while I was daily blogging. So what's new? A lot! I have had a lot of new arrivals, and I've even had time to work on some customs, plus I found an accessory that improves a recent figure as well. So, it's time to share what's new, and I will be doing dedicated reviews of all these figures in the near future, except for the custom figures.
BAYLAN SKOLL & SHIN HATI
The Black Series versions are not properly scaled to each other, but the VC versions are. Baylan is a contender for my favorite figure of the year, he's got a lot of articulation and is well balanced. Shin is slightly disappointing, her head sculpt and shoulder armor are what I don't like. When I review these figures it will be together since they are Master and Apprentice, similar to my review of Kanan and Ezra.
DR EVAZAN
A face so ugly, I bet his momma hated to kiss it. He's got the ugly snout you'd expect, and they have upgraded his chest hair paint apps. His blaster takes some effort to fit in his holster as the gun is very rubbery. But otherwise, he's a good figure and now I'm waiting on Ponda Baba so he has his drinking buddy and partner in crime.
ANAKIN SKYWALKER/DARTH VADER 3 PACK
I haven't opened this because I need to take better pictures of the box, but some collectors aren't pleased with the ROTS Anakin/Vader due to his right hand not being able to move properly compared to other recent Force users action figures. The Emperor's Wrath Vader is a repack of VC 280 with a new paint scheme for the helmet. And the Clone Wars Microseries Anakin I've already covered, of course the mainline version didn't have a cape. But the Anakin heads are swappable so if you don't like Sith eyes Anakin, you can put his CW head on with no trouble.
HAMMERHEAD
I thought about just posing him straight, but honestly I played with this toy for an hour after opening him. He's got great articulation and believe it or not, I don't have him leaning against the back wall for this shot. He's the best figure of 2025...so far. When I cover him, I'll also cover the past versions of him since I have them all now. I haven't played with his accessories yet, but he's got Jedi Level Articulation, and he's not even a Jedi!
HEIR TO THE EMPIRE 3 PACK
I've waited 34 years for this, and it's worth the wait! I have the Sixer C'baoth and Thrawn, but this is the only Thrawn from Legends in the VC. When I cover this set I'll also cover the 2009 Comic Pack Thrawn too. Thrawn is the live action Thrawn buck, with the Rebels Thrawn headsculpt. Captain Pellaeon has his hat glued to his head, and I took out his blaster because it doesn't fit well in the holster. I did attempt to do a head swap with a spare Piett figure, but it felt like the head would snap the barbell joint so I chose not to do it. But the star of this set is Joruus C'baoth. He's an all new (maybe) sculpt, and comes with one Force Lightning hand, plus lit and unlit lightsabers. And to prove to the BanthaSkull commentors that Palpy's Lightning hands can fit Joruus so you can create his appearance on the HTTE cover, here you go:
DEDRA MEERO ACCESSORY SWAP
From the waist up, Dedra Meero is a good figure. Below that, she's got Director Krennic's legs, which is a disappointment. But her figure comes with a blaster instead of a data pad so I changed things up. Going through a spare parts bin, I found a data pad from a 2009 Playmates Star Trek 3.75 inch figure, and the data pad either came with Cadet McCoy or Cadet Chekov, but either way, the pad works well with Dedra. I have decided to not review Dedra after all, but her head sculpt is one of the best this year. It may not photograph well, but in hand it's solid.
CUSTOM CARNOR JAX
Carnor Jax is the main villain in the 1st Crimson Empire miniseries. He was one of the last surviving Emperor's Royal Guards, along with the hero of the story Kir Kanos. Carnor was Force sensitive and an apprentice of Lumiya, who would later on in Legends turn Jacen Solo to the dark side as he became Darth Caedus.
I took a spare Grand Inquisitor buck, and painted his neck. Once it dried I pit some 2 sided tape inside Carnor's head to keep it on. The Carnor head comes from the Carnor Jax/Kir Kanos 2 pack. I had broken the arm of Carnor long ago, and I couldn't do a leg swap with the VC Emperor's Royal Guard so I opted for this version of Carnor, as he ruled an Imperial Faction post Endor and the Dark Empire series. I decided to keep the cape as cutting it off was determined to be too much of a chore.
CUSTOM INQUISITOR BARRIS OFFEE
I have spare Reva figures laying around, so I decided to make an Inquisitor Barriss since Hasbro probably won't. I will go back and paint her skull cap black, but I'm out of flat black acrylic paint so I'll have to wait to finish this custom properly. I have plenty of red blades, and once she gets a paint job, I'll show her off fighting Ahsoka.
CUSTOM GALEN "STARKILLER" MAREK
Consider this a work in progress. I used one of the spare GI Joe bucks I bought at the St Tammany Collector's Convention last month, and while I don't remember which Starkiller figure I got the head from, I put some two-sided tape inside to keep the head attached. But I ran into a problem. I do need to cut the neck post down a bit so that the head doesn't sit so high. I also need to paint the belt gloss black, and then he will be good to go. I had intended to put this head on an Imperial Gunner buck, but this one offers more articulation. Plus the outfit is similar to the Inquisitors so he fits in. The lightsabers that came with the VC Starkiller perfectly fit in his hands.
So that's what's new! I do need to dust my BB-8 Playset so that's next on the agenda. I will have a review next week, which one, I don't know yet. I'm going to wing it. Speaking of reviews, I plan on doing The Ghost review the weekend of July 4th, as I need lots of time to set up and take pictures. Thanks for reading!
