VC Top 25 in 2025: Number 25

The votes are in, and the collectors have spoken! So without further introductions, I'm going to get this started.

MY 25th RANKED VC FIGURE:

PONDA BABA VC 70

WHY I LIKE THIS FIGURE: He's a callback to the original Kenner line. He was known as Walrus Man back then, but thanks to modern technology they can finally get one nearly screen accurate. He did have his "debut" in the POTF2 line, where he was first given his correct name, thanks to West End Games, Ponda Baba. He also comes with a bunch of accessories: alternate hands, and a severed arm to recreate his interaction with Luke Skywalker and Ben Kenobi. He also comes with a blaster.

INTERESTING FACT: He's the 1st character ever in Star Wars who FA and FO.

WHY HE'S RANKED 25TH: While a very good figure, his head is just...off. Don't get me wrong, he's got a great head sculpt. But his head is just too small. His only display option is the Cantina. So if you are getting the upcoming HasLab, you definitely need this figure. And since he's essential for that display, he's ranked.

COLLECTOR'S CHOICE DETERMINATION

Okay, now before I get into the Collector's Choice, here is how it was determined. With 17 responders, I have 170 total votes, which is enough to formulate a list. I'll include the total votes per figure, so if BOBF Boba Fett got 8 votes, I'd list that after the rank. I'll be transparent in this process, as best as I can. Now, I did have to throw out a couple votes because I didn't get the VC Number with the figure, so there are a couple deductions.

Before I get to how things went, I had to eliminate all the Snowtrooper votes, as that figure won't officially ship until this month, so it went past my April 1st, 2025 deadline. I had intended to count ties as one figure, however, because the votes were so spread out, I had a massive log jam at spots 19-25. I had 11 figures but 7 spots. So I resorted to a series of coin flips, utilizing the Gold Coin that came with the Millennium Mint C-3PO. Lower numbered figures got heads, higher number got tails. I gave the lowest numbered figure a bye, and that figure would face the figure that won out of the winners and losers bracket in a best of 5. The winning figure won by 1 vote. From 3rd place to 25th, I resorted to tie breaking coin flips. At the end I'll break everything down.

COLLECTOR'S CHOICE 25TH RANKED FIGURE:

ECHO BASE REBEL SOLDIER VC 68

WHY I THINK COLLECTORS LIKE THIS FIGURE: It's a troop builder. A huge advantage of the 1:18 scale is it's cheaper to army build. It's well sculpted for the time it was made, and relatively popular amongst the collectors. Plus with Hoth being a popular display choice for collectors this figure is essential for those displays. Plus the card is good, and it checks off the crucial Original 96 that many modern collectors want. Besides, troop building figures sell at this scale, and in great numbers.

WHY IS THIS FIGURE 25TH? Well, he frankly lost out on the coin toss tie breakers. I had 11 figures but only 10 spots, and while this figure ended up losing out on being a little higher up the chain, it's a good figure. While modern articulation on this figure would be nice, he fits in for any Hoth display you have set up. Besides troop building, background characters are what gives the Vintage Collection an advantage in world building.

Thanks for reading and voting! A special thanks to Chris and Nomad at BanthaSkull for allowing me to post this link in the comments section! Tomorrow I'll have the 24th ranked figures, so keep tuned in!

I don't know about you, but I'll be watching the Despecialized Editions of the OT on Blu Ray all day. May the 4th be with you!

Pictures are from ebay, Galactic Figures, Figure Realm, and are not mine.
