VC Top 25 in 2025: Number 22

 MY 22nd RANKED VC FIGURE:

VC 53 BOM VIMDIN

WHY I LIKE THIS FIGURE: Bom is a background alien in the Cantina, a blink and you miss him character. He's well done by 2010 standards but what still pops about this figure is the incredibly detailed head sculpt. The eyes, the facial expression, the horn on his head...is there a better alien weirdo figure to have?! He comes with 2 weapons and a cup, so he's ready to drink and fight! Just like some people in the small town bars I visit. And like the Cantina it's best to not make direct eye contact or ask too many questions to them. You don't want to get shot.

FUN FACT ABOUT THIS FIGURE: I never saw him in the VC 1.0 days, but saw this figure a couple years ago...and I passed on him. His $45 price was (and still is) out of my range. If he's ever repacked I'm getting him.

WHY HES RANKED 22nd: He's a perfect background alien, and if Kenner had the budget back then he might have been made back in the day. As I noted his head sculpt is still amazing, and despite lacking the modern articulation points, he's a very good figure. And I pray it gets repacked quite soon.

COLLECTORS CHOICE 22nd RANKED FIGURE

VC 287  TAYM DREN GAREN

WHY I THINK COLLECTORS LIKE THIS FIGURE:

To be blunt, he's the man who literally shot Luke Skywalker. Right on his artificial hand. He's the reason why Luke wears a black glove the rest of the film. For many in the BanthaSkull comment section he was a long requested figure, and like Vedain came in the Jabba's Denizens 4 pack (I made an error yesterday, Vedain came in a 3 pack, not the one Taym and Tessek did, my lysdexia struck again!). I just called him Armin Tanzarian because I had no idea who he was and it's just a lot more fun to show I don't know the names of a lot of background characters. Except for Wedge Antilles. He's cool. But once I saw Taym/Armin, I knew who he was. Taym fills out Jabba's Sail Barge, and he does shoot Luke. Imagine if the Empire used him as a Clone template. The Rebellion would have been finished! But he checks the boxes: background character, and completing a scene. Plus he's got a good card image as well. Not to mention he has great paint apps, something some VC figures lately sadly lack.

WHY HE'S RANKED 22nd: He isn't a bad figure. He's a kitbashed figure with a good paint job, and a great head sculpt. Carded and loose collectors like this figure a lot, and it reminds me that I need to open mine soon.

Thanks for reading!
