VC Top 25 in 2025: Number 16

 MY 16th RANKED FIGURES:

VC 309 PHASE I CLONETROOPER & VC 269 PHASE II CLONETROOPER

Photo for P1 Clonetrooper (AOTC card) from Entertainment Earth, unknown photo source for the P2 Clonetrooper (Andor card).

WHY I LIKE THESE FIGURES:

I couldn't do one without doing the other. At least on my end. But they have barbell hips, can do THWG, and are a huge improvement over the 2007 Saga Collection figures I had been using for many years. I can nitpick over the P2 Clonetrooper being on an Andor card, but eventually he might end up on a Clone Wars or Revenge of the Sith card. The P1 has a perfect card image. But, I'm more on opening, playing and or displaying than I am keeping these  carded. So this figure fits the bill. And these are among the last troop builders I can currently afford, so I'm glad to have such incredible figures to work with!

INTERESTING FACT: This won't be the only tie. But it is the only tie I have in my Top 25.

WHY THEY'RE RANKED 16th:

The removable helmets. While Hasbro did a great job on the head sculpts, I would have been happier if the helmets weren't removable. If the new  501st Clonetrooper was eligible for my Top 25, he would have been in my Top 10. But these are still excellent troop building figures. But with them in the lineup, we need better Battle Droids for them to fight, and more Jedi to lead them into battle.

COLLECTOR'S CHOICE 16th RANKED FIGURE:

VC 23 ENDOR CAPTURE LUKE SKYWALKER

WHY I THINK COLLECTORS LIKE THIS FIGURE: Let me start by talking about the cards. The one from the bottom photo was what this figure first came out on. And like an idiot I opened mine up, not knowing a new version would come out with a corrected card. But for completion sake, I'm showing both cards, but it doesn't change the number. The bottom card would of course be used again for VC 175 and this time it would be correct. The figure itself was way ahead of its time for 2010. Great articulation, head sculpt and coming with a lightsaber and binders, aka handcuffs so he can be presented to the Emperor. I'm noting for custom purposes that the head from Light Cruiser Luke does fit, if you want a custom version. If you have the Emperor's Throne Room and a ROTJ Vader you can display the scene of Luke's arrival on the second Death Star.

WHY HE'S RANKED 16th: Coin toss, but from a figure standpoint, he was a bold choice for back then. The only Kenner figure to have Luke in his Death Star II outfit was Endor Luke from the Final 17, but he had his helmet molded onto his head. Here, we finally get a good figure with a brand new card, showing something that Kenner probably should have done but didn't. I'm somewhat surprised a flap down version wasn't made, but that's a topic for another day. Luke is my favorite character, so getting any Luke figure in the Top 25 for me is a great thing. But it's even better when collector's are the ones putting him on their lists.

INTERESTING FACT: At this moment, an all new updated version of this figure sits at the top of my Last Figure Standing Top 10. Bespin Luke is 2nd.
