VC Top 25 in 2025: Number 11

 MY 11th RANKED FIGURE:

VC 231 STORMTROOPER

WHY I LIKE THIS FIGURE: Admittedly, with price increases, I hadn't planned on getting any of these figures. However, a Wally World gift card changed that, and I found my basic 5: 4 grunts and one to give an officer's pauldron to. He's basically the same as the great Rogue One Stormtrooper, but has the added holster that can do what the Saga Collection Stormtroopers couldn't do: store the blaster. With the RO Stormtroopers, I have to store the blasters in a small ziploc bag. Not now! Plus, thanks to Wally World clearance sales, I found 4 more of these guys for $6 each. And then I realized I would need a 5th to make another officer, and the card really grew on me, so I ordered 2 more at standard retail price to get my officer and carded version. Once I get the ANH Ben Kenobi, Han, and Chewbacca, and the rumored ANH C-3PO my days as a carded collector are done. But because I love this version, I now have nearly 2 dozen RO Stormtroopers that now may have no place in my collection. Unless I can make holsters for them, that is.

WHY HE'S RANKED 11th: It's amazing what a small chunk of plastic can do (and adding rocker ankles) to an already good figure. While I like figures like the Clonetroopers and Sith Trooper, this is my preferred army builder because I'm more OT/Legends New Republic over any other area, with the PT Era of course. Sure, a barbell hipped Stormtrooper would be amazing, but I honestly can't afford to get 10 more of those at the current prices. So I'm happy as he is. And I can use extras from the Shadowtroopers like the black pauldron and long rifles too for these figures.

INTERESTING FACT: This isn't his last appearance on this Countdown.

COLLECTOR'S CHOICE 11th RANKED FIGURE:

VC 301 DARTH REVAN

WHY I THINK COLLECTORS LIKE THIS FIGURE:

Knights of the Old Republic is one of, if not the most popular Star Wars games ever made. But, this also shows how loud the voices of collectors are. Shortly after VC 2.0 launched, Revan was announced to debut in the line. But, it was the 2007 version. There was weeping and the gnashing of teeth by collectors over several collecting websites, so Hasbro relented. The Sixers got Revan, and it's a good figure for that scale. But, finally a couple years ago, Hasbro made one for the Vintage Collection. This figure is basically a shrunken down version of the Sixer figure. He comes with 2 lightsabers: 1 red, 1 purple. He can hold them well in either hand, and has a good range of motion if you're displaying him loose. The only thing missing for Revan is an updated Malek for him to boss around. Bastila Shan has an older VC figure, so Revan can hold his main squeeze.

INTERESTING FACT: I am still waiting on Entertainment Earth to fill my order for this figure. He's in what I call distribution Hell. I found one at the NOLA Comic Con for $45, and then a local comic book store had one for $15. He hasn't been canceled yet....unlike my Hera and Pre Vizsla from that same wave.

WHY HE'S RANKED 11th: Many carded collectors like this figure. He's got an amazing card! He's a Sith Lord, has lightsabers and is a hard to find figure, and that's why he's ranked here. This is a figure people are chasing, just check his eBay prices, they're high. Once he gets more into circulation those prices should go down. His rarity is exciting, but without more figures to interact with, he could have been higher.

Thanks for reading! The Top 10 starts tomorrow with the 10th and 9th figures!

Comments

  1. The VC231 Stormtrooper also has rocker ankles, that was the other change from VC140. One more upgrade to ball jointed hips would be cool. Unfortunately they all have shallow peg holes.
