Anakin Skywalker VC 347 Review

When this figure was announced, and rumors began to trickle out about him being a new head sculpt on the VC 92 Anakin buck, I said a few expletives that begin with the letters F & S. But, when I saw reviews on YouTube and BanthaSkull, I changed my mind about just leaving this figure on a card. He needed to be opened! And played with! So for my first review back with my BB-8 Playset back up, it's the main character of the George Lucas Star Wars Saga: Anakin Skywalker, as seen in the Ahsoka series. Needless to say, this is already one of my favorite VC figures. Will he be in my VC Top 25 in 2025? Maybe yes, maybe no. But please read on for my review!

Since it's been a while since I've taken photos on this set up, I'm not too thrilled with some photos, especially the 2nd one above, but of the 4 I took, that one was the best. I will compare this figure to VC 92 at the end. This Anakin has the standard 17 POA, and the new barbell hips which allow him to be put into some neat action poses. There's also a new head sculpt, albeit without the eye scar that VC 92 has. But this figure isn't based off the Clone Wars series but instead the live action Ahsoka series, from when Ahsoka went into the World Between Worlds and had a "flashback" to the past with Hayden Christensen returning as Anakin. You can see the new head sculpt in the first photo above this paragraph, and I like it. I don't love it, but I like it.

While the upper body is almost exactly like VC 92, from the waist down, Anakin is all new. He's easy to pose, and has decent balance. If there is a complaint, it's his belt. It slides up, and can be slightly annoying if you want that perfect pose, only to have the belt ride up. He can achieve the much needed THWG (two-handed weapon grip). He comes with 2 accessories: his lit and unlit lightsaber hilt. The unlit hilt fits perfectly onto his belt, and he holds his lightsaber very well. Something the VC 92 figure couldn't do, as it kept falling out of his hand. At least for me. So how does he compare to his predecessor?

I have 2 major complaints about VC 92. But, I was able to rectify one of those thanks to the lightsaber that came with the recent ANH Luke: VC 92 Anakin can hold that lightsaber perfectly. But the soft goods? It's bad. However, VC 347 fixes this problem. You can see in the photos above it has a full skirt, and not the flaps VC 92 has. While the hair on VC 92 reflects the animated Anakin in realistic style, while VC 347 reflects Hayden's hair. I really should have taken a photo with ANH Luke, as father and son have the same hair color. The only advantage VC 92 has over VC 347 is the balance. Posing the older Anakin was easier, as I constantly had to shuffle the new Anakin.

But the ease in which both figures can hold the new lightsabers, well, I don't need to pull a MAKMCSWF and toss the old Anakin into the New Zealand bush. You can also sew the head close ups above on how different they are, and how the new one is much better than the old one. But, there is one problem with the lightsaber. New Anakin has a lighter blue blade than ANH Luke, which has a brighter blue. Which makes no sense as it's the same lightsaber. The paint job on the shoulder armor is different as well.

Anakin fits in with Mandalore Ahsoka, now we need a live action Ahsoka in that outfit (and barbell hips). I also have Anakin with the POTF2 Anakin, and the Anakin Spirit figure. The height matches up with the older figures quite well. So, is this a definitive Anakin? Yes and no. He's definitive to the Ahsoka flashback, but not quite for Clone Wars. But that doesn't take away my enjoyment of this figure. The only negative is the head sculpt doesn't exactly resemble Hayden Christensen, but it's good enough to pass for him. Easily, this is one of my favorite figures so far this year.
