The Ghost Review Part 1
I mentioned this last week, but felt I needed to open with the damaged part of the box. This didn't happen in the shipping process, this happened when I dumped it out of the shipping box and onto my bed, and it was at a weird angle. And since I'm opening this anyway, I wanted to point that out first. That damage is on me, not Hasbro or Fed Ex. I am going to do this review in different parts, and I'm not settled on the final number just yet. But today, I'm going to show you the box, and what's all inside it.
The front of the box has the full color shot, while the back is in black and white. This is a call back to the Kenner days when the vehicle boxes had the same thing. As you can see, this box is MASSIVE! It took me a whole to get good photos of it, and after experimenting with where to shoot, I found sitting on the far edge of my bed and zooming in worked best. The only other color photos are on the top of the box, and the sides have black and white images. Those photos are below, and I had to take 2 photos of the top because laying the box down was a chore, so I simply angled it forward with one hand to get the pictures. The side shots were easy.
So that's the exterior. Now what about what's inside? Got my box cutter handy to cut the tape.
It may not look like 4 trays that are in there, but there are. The 1st and 4th trays hold the sides of the ship, while the 3rd tray is the main body of The Ghost. The 2nd tray holds the 4 included figures. There is also an instruction sheet, but I won't photograph that until I start putting this thing together.
1st Tray
This tray holds a side of the ship, plus the landing struts, interior furniture, the Phantom II ship, and the exterior engines. There was stuff underneath the box, so that's why there are 2 photos. The same would hold true for the 2nd tray.
2nd Tray
Admittedly, when I damaged the box, this was what I was the most worried about being damaged. Thankfully, they weren't. At first when I opened it, I felt the pairings were a bit off, until I remembered Ezra was the 1st tier, Kanan the 2nd tier and Zeb was the 3rd and final tier. Once I removed this tray, I put it in another closet shelf so it will be safe. I will dona detailed look at these 4 figures later on, but I do not plan to open them. I also have the Sabine and Chopper 2 pack on the Mural cards, so I have the whole crew. But I also have the crew in the mainline releases, and those figures will be the ones I use when taking pictures of the ship when it's put together. On the surface, they borrow a lot from the main figures, except for Hera, I'm not sure if they re-used her legs from her Ahsoka version, or if this is a new sculpt. With that being said, I do expect Hasbro to put these figures on standard VC cards in the future, as they've released the Razor Crest Mandalorian in packs and on a card, albeit with another vehicle.
4th Tray
Going out of order because, why not?! Well actually the 3rd tray is the largest part. Here, you get the other sides of the ship, plus the turret gun. Removing the dome to the turret is easy, it's the only way you can get a figure to sit there. I haven't put the turret back in the box so I can fool around with it a bit.
3rd Tray
And finally I'm at the main part of the ship. You can see the exposed cockpit, and the nose gun chair, which can be moved back and forth which is pretty cool. At the back, you can see where the Phantom II can clip on, and while it doesn't clip on, I do want to get the Phantom I just to see how it fits, and what I could do to make it fit (two-sided tape, maybe?). Now this is the only part of the ship that action figures can interact in. Fortunately the top hatches are easy to get off.
Here you get a better look at the cockpit, living quarters and lounge area. Taking this out, there is a door at the front of the ship that for the moment I'm unable to open. The ladder in the cockpit area leads down to the hatch area. I'm not sure if any figure can be put on the ladder, but the open ramp door doesn't look like it can fit a figure, and I doubt the area is large enough to store one. The cockpit area has 4 seats, 5 if you include the nose gun.
The middle part is the crew quarters. At the top of the photo is where Ezra and Zeb sleep. Again, I haven't attempted to fit their figures in it. To the bottom is Hera's cabin, which has curtains on the edge for privacy. And for those saying why couldn't they also put in Sabine and Kanan's separate cabins....there just isn't enough room.
The lounge is at the back, and is currently unadorned. I'm told that the furniture is a loose fit, so if the ship is picked up and moved it would likely move around. I'll find out for sure when I put it together. There is a door at the top part of the photo that doesn't open, which does disappoint me because the Legacy Millennium Falcon (LMF) had one that did open to expose either a private bunk or extra storage. In Rebels, Ezra often used that door to sneak around the Ghost in the first 2 seasons before his growth spurt. At the bottom of the photo is the Engineering Station, something the LMF had. The gaming table area is at the top portion. Once it's furnished, this will be the heart and soul of The Ghost.
So that wraps up The Ghost's first look. With next weekend being the Super Bowl, I will not have a blog post, but might do one in the middle of the week. My next Ghost related blog post will be looking at the included figures, and comparing them to the mainline versions. All of the pictures here are mine. Thanks for reading!
