My Thoughts On The Anakin Skywalker 3 Pack
Honestly, like the Heir To The Empire 3 pack, I did not see this coming. At all! Revealed the other day in the final Gift The Galaxy wave (along with a Black Series Clonetrooper and Super Battle Droid), the last 2 weeks have been a pleasant surprise for VC collectors. Which is great since 2024 is not what I'd call a great year for the Vintage Collection. So far, 2025 is looking GREAT! I'll give my breakdown of all 3 figures, and what other similar 3 pack could be in the works (I hope!).
Here's a look at all 3 figures, out of the package:
Impressive. Most impressive! In a way, since Anakin is from Tatooine, this could definitely be considered part of the Return To Tattooine that will be the main focus of the VC for 2025. Now onto the individual figures.
1. Clone Wars Anakin Skywalker
This Anakin is from the 2003 Clone Wars Microseries, as shown by the cape. There is another version of this figure coming on the Ahoska card, and the upper body is similar to VC 92, but the legs appear to be all new sculpts. He comes with his blue lightsaber, and the head sculpt on closer inspection shows off his scar, and a great resemblance to Hayden Christensen. Needless to say, I won't be opening the one from Ahsoka.
2. Darth Vader (not yet deep fried)
Old yellow eyes is back! We haven't gotten this version of Anakin in the VC since 2011, and all I have to say is this figure looks AWESOME! I'm loving the evil looking expression on his face, and he has a swappable left hand to do either a Force push, or choke. The red lightsaber may be a reminder of his duel with Ahsoka in The World Between Worlds from the Ahsoka series, which is the source I believe this version of Vader/Anakin is sourced from. Everything appears new, except the legs which are borrowed from Clone Wars Anakin. I won't be able to tell until this figure is in hand.
3. Darth Vader (Emperor's Wrath)
VC 115, the original Emperor's Wrath Vader was a hard to find figure, and the only modern (1995-present) Darth Vader figure I don't own. Now, based off the excellent Dark Times Vader, Hasbro goes back to the well. Like the ROTJ Vader, you can swap out his right hand for the stump. He comes with a Force Lightning effect and his lightsaber. I have plenty of 2 sided tape to deal with the large cape, as it does help out a bit. But, I'm looking forward to having a complete set of modern Vader's. This set will arrive in June of 2025.
And now, Hasbro needs to pair this set. The most logical choice would be an Obi-Wan to Ben Kenobi. Repack the upcoming ANH Ben Kenobi, add a Clone Wars Obi-Wan, and an Obi-Wan from Mustafar. Let's do this, Hasbro!!
I will have my planned Christmas related post on Sunday, which I hope you all enjoy! Thanks for reading! All pictures from Hasbro Pulse. Special thanks to Chris and Nomad at BanthaSkull for allowing me to post this link in the comments section!
