Figures That Make Me Happy Legacy Collection Ben Kenobi (Custom)

I did the younger version a couple weeks ago, so now onto Ben Kenobi! The figure is basically the Legacy Collection Ben, but he has swapped out hands, and a swapped out robe so he's a custom, and meets the definition of that term. I'll also go into full detail about how and why I made him, plus where he will be displayed in the future....

The figure is the Legacy Collection Ben Kenobi, figure 34 from the blue Legacy Collection card. He came with his lightsaber, a removable robe, a table, and a small hologram Princess Leia. He has 14 POA, not bad, but not as SA as the current VC standard of 17 POA. But, I swapped out his hands. His right hand had the mind trick gesture, and couldn't hold his lightsaber all that well. At least not well enough by my standards, so I swapped his hands with another figure. And it was so long ago, I don't remember if it was with the Evolutions Count Dooku, or the VOTC Ben Kenobi from 2004-05. But he holds his lightsaber well, as you'll see in the photos below.

Older pictures, but they show him off quite well. He's got decent articulation range, plus for 2008-09 he's got good sculpting and paint apps. I did attempt to do a head swap with the 5 POA Ben Kenobi, but the 5 POA head was too large to fit on the ball joint neck, so that didn't happen. The face sculpt is decent enough to pass for Alec Guiness, but not by today's demanding collector's standards. But that's fine with me. His sculpt is detailed enough for me. I did have some balance issues, but once he can stand up, he doesn't exactly tip over. More on what I'll use later on to ensure he stays put.

Since the included robe was over sized, typical for the figures of this era, I gave him Aayla Secura's robe. It fits well, and even drapes down, giving him a good look. Plus it can be pulled back enough to show off his face. It's the easiest swap I made, and it may be the best custom feature I gave this figure. Look below and judge for yourself.

Now when it comes to the new Ben Kenobi coming from Hasbro, I'll have that figure in my basic collection. But when it comes to the Cantina HasLab, this Ben Kenobi, along with my older ANH 3.75 figures, will be displayed there. While having the great new VC Wuher, Greedo, Tonnika Sisters and Nabrun Leids are the highlights of the Cantina, I have some older, less articulated figures that will also be displayed in the Cantina, and figures I doubt Hasbro would revisit. Plus, I've had this figure for so long, I just can't bear to out him in my spare parts bin. Same with some of my older ANH figures. So when the Cantina arrives, my Ben Kenobi displayed there will be this one.
