VC Deluxe Luke Skywalker & Grogu

When Hasbro makes an almost fully tooled new figure, they knock it out of the park! See the Dark Times & ROTJ Darth Vader. And now, add Luke Skywalker from his appearance in the Book of Boba Fett. While the single carded version is coming soon, Target's exclusive deluxe set is shipping now, and by the pictures you'll see, this is something I went crazy on picture wise. And with good reason. For the view of the accessories the back picture shows what's included (top picture above).

First I'll cover Grogu. There isn't much to him, he can only turn his head, and cannot move his arms. But, you just need him to look cute, and he does! His arms are in a raised position, so he could levitate one of the 7 included frogs (3 levitating, 4 seated). The water attachment can hold the 3 levitating frogs, but mine fell off as soon as I got the picture. You'll need a bag to store these items in, I dropped a frog and needed my super powered flashlight to find it. Honestly, he's okay, but not the main feature. He does fit in the included backpack, although sadly if you have a VC Yoda figure, that won't fit. Yoda's lit and unlit lightsaber are also included, yet Grogu can't hold either object, but Yoda can hold the lightsaber quite well. The detail in the sculpt and paint apps show this is a well made figure, but it's a lot like the previous Grogu figures.

The Luke Skywalker figure features an almost new sculpt head to toe. His head and hands are from the Light Cruiser version, and the good news is this Luke has the new barbell hips, so he can be put in a lot of action poses. I couldn't get a good picture of him with a two-handed weapon grip, but that still eludes this scale (1:18) of Luke. He has the new ball socket neck joint, which explains the headless Luke photos below. His hip has a ball joint, so if you're attempting a hip swap with Light Cruiser Luke, it cannot be done that way. That figure has a swivel hip. He could do the Macarena if you wanted him too! But what amazed me the most is the figure's balance. On most figure shots, I have to lean them against the back wall to get pictures. Even with Grogu in the backpack (photos above), he stays standing up! Luke also isn't too tall, and scales well with Darth Vader, as seen in one of the pictures below this paragraph.

The paint apps are very few. Luke's outfit is all black, and the only details are on the head sculpt, which is well done as always. As a matter of fact, I could see parts from this figure being used on an ANH version of Luke, although I am in the minority with this thought in the collecting community. Luke has a cloth skirt to better sit down cross legged, as he did when he showed Grogu what the Mandalorian had left for him. However, for that scene go be screen accurate, Luke needs to have his weapon belt, and that isn't included with this figure. But if you have the VC or Black Series Sandstorm Luke, the belt from that figure will fit on this figure (see the photos below this paragraph).

The accessories include the frogs and water display I mentioned earlier, plus Yoda's lit and unlit lightsabers. Luke's lightsaber is included, as well as an unlit hilt which can't be placed on this Luke since there is no hole on his belt. But it works fine on LC Luke. Luke/Grogu also come with his wrapped and unwrapped Beskar Chain Mail armor (AKA 'Mithril' ). Sadly, the armor won't fit Grogu but you just need Luke to show Grogu the armor out of the package. Luke can easily hold both his and Yoda's lightsabers. I really should have taken a picture of Luke with both lightsabers have a practice duel with Ahsoka!

Obviously, Luke is essential  if you don't want the extras, the single carded BOBF Luke just comes with his lit and unlit lightsaber, and honestly that is good enough. Honestly, I only wanted this set because it has Yoda's lightsaber which is an all new sculpt. But this set with both figures make for a great display, and for that alone you should get this set!
