VC Top 25 Requests
Around this time of year, fan sites get a start on their own version of "March Madness". For those not familiar with March Madness it refers to men's college basketball and the 68 team NCAA Tournament where upsets are almost common place. But I'm not here to explain why you need to always take the 12 seed over a 5 seed in your tournament brackets. I'm here to talk Vintage Collection! And yes, there are some popular Star Wars characters that have YET to be made into VC figures. The trick with these fan site most wanted polls is these figures are in order of preference. My top choice may come as a surprise to many. I'll only stick to 10, so here are my 10 most wanted with 10 being my lowest and 1 being my highest choice. So, find out who is on my most wanted list, take into account some of these have never had VC figures (from 2010-2012 & 2018-present) or have had modern, definitive updates. Place your votes with the TVC people on Instagram, or on collecting sites (BanthaSkull, Jedi Temple Archives, YakFace, Rebelscum or any other SW collecting site). Just be sure you vote once! And put your figures with 25 being your least wanted to 1 being your most wanted. Since this is my blog I wanted to be unique and mix things up a bit!
10. Director Krennic. We have Jyn, Cassian and Chirrut. We have Deathtroopers, Shoretroopers and Stormtroopers, and Vader. But who is missing? Rogue One's top villain. With the new Imperial Officer buck and a photo real update of the 5 POA Krennic head this should be an easy figure to make. Villains have been SEVERELY lacking since the VC's return.
9. Count Dooku. Hasbro could lazily give us the Evolutions Dooku with a new head sculpt and the Inperial Officer's new "skirt" and I know I'd be happy.
8. Saw Gerrara. While I prefer the Rogue One version, an Andor version might be more toyetic and simple since Saw has all his limbs. This could be a deluxe figure simply because I doubt his accessories could fit on the standard card. And I doubt the VC will get more Andor figures anyway.
7. C-3PO (A New Hope). Use the BAD Protocol Droid buck and paint it gold. The one we have is horrible, but I prefer a version from ANH card wise.
6. Finn (Episode 9). Finn is a figure I think that deserves new life. His Ep 7 outfit wasn't colorful, while in Ep 9 he looked good from a toy perspective. Take the Han Solo buck from the VC Solo figure, sculpt new arms and holster that can hold his blaster and Finn should be easy to produce.
5. Morgan Elsbeth. She dueled with Ahsoka Tano in Mandalorian Ch 13. Take the Reva buck, put on a new head sculpt and give her the Beskar Spear. This one wouldn't be hard to do, and is actually what I am doing for my own Morgan custom. Just need to find a proper head for her.
4. Ben Kenobi (ANH). Take the LC Ben Kenobi, give it new hands, a photo real head sculpt, and a properly fitted robe and we have a definitive Ben. Then he could be cast in translucent plastic for a spirit figure later on.
3. Princess Leia Organa (ANH). She is a DESPERATELY needed figure! The VOTC Leia has a great card but a poor figure. Actually taking the upper body of Medical Frigate Leia from the LC, and given a new head sculpt and new leg sculpts would be a big benefit. The new legs could be reused on a proper Endor Leia figure. Or possibly a Padme.
2. Luke Skywalker (ANH). The first time we see Luke, he's in his Tatooine outfit. "Farmboy" Luke hasn't had a good figure in almost 20 years. The VOTC Luke is....bad. Now take the legs from Old Man Luke, or the new Mando Luke, sculpt a new upper body and be sure to give him Anakin's lightsaber and a Stormtrooper blaster and we are set! A deluxe version can include the poncho, blast shield helmet and long rifle.
MISSED THE CUT:
1. Padme Amidala (AOTC). I want Factory Chase Padme, take the Black Series version and add some clothing so it won't be "scantily clad". And a photo real headsculpt.
2. Asajj Ventress (Clone Wars). A version from the Season 5 final arc would be appreciated since I like the look. I'd be happy if we got her early season look too but her Bounty hunter look is more toyetic IMO.
3. Han Solo (ANH). The upcoming Endor Han is coming and that is supposed to be an improved sculpt over the one we already have. Painting his pants blue and adding the red stripes shouldn't be a problem. At all. I am confident of all the figures listed, this has the best chance of soon being made.
4. Baze Malbus. Baze and Chirrut go together like Batman & Nightwing (Dick Grayson is no longer Robin, so I use Nightwing instead). While a SA Baze in the one true scale is a desperate want by many, he is just outside my Top 10.
5. Mara Jade (Vision of the Future). She's getting a 6 inch Black Series figure, and has a good 3.75 Black Series figure with a terrible head sculpt. But catsuit Mara has been done to death! Mara in her outfit as seen from the cover of Vision of the Future captures Mara as a Jedi. Using some of the ANH Leia parts could go into making Jedi Jade, as long as she also comes with the Skywalker lightsaber. I doubt this will ever get made, but I'm listing it anyway.
Others:
6. Lt Connix (Billie Lourd, Carrie Fisher's daughter) Episode 9
7. Rose Tico (Episode 9 and yes I'm serious about this!)
8. Poe Dameron (Episode 9)
9. Jar Jar Binks (TPM) with swappable head w/ his tounge out
10. Darth Revan (KOTOR)
BACK TO THE COUNTDOWN:
1. Kylo Ren/Ben Solo (Episode 9). I don't like the sequels at all. With that being said, a lot of characters in it are very toyetic. Take Kylo Ren, he sells quite well as sequel characters go. He's also a villain, a rare thing. However he turns back to the light side and helps Rey defeat Palpy's clone. Kylo should come with his rebuilt mask (which looks awesome, BTW) and an unmasked head. For good measure he should come with both Kylo Ren's lightsaber as well as Leia Organa's. Give him the new ball jointed hips or add thigh swivels to the original ball socketed legs and this could be a figure that won't break the bank when it comes to using new tooling. Plus any new Kylo could make a new Anakin Skywalker, and so on. But this is my top choice, a villain who can become a hero as well. Please make this happen, Hasbro!!
