2023 Clone Wars 20th Anniversary VC Wish List

2023 may be the biggest year of anniversaries for Star Wars toys. Not only is it Return of the Jedi's 40th anniversary but also the 20th Anniversary of Genndy Tartakovsky's Clone Wars Micro Series. The creator of Dexter's Laboratory made 20 3 minute long episodes that run 1 hour total. Much of the voice talent in that, and the 2nd set of episodes would return to voice the same characters in George Lucas and Dave Filoni's 2008 Clone Wars series, and left the Clone Wars Micro Series in an alternate universe before Disney would move it to Legends in 2014.

Hasbro has announced that 2023 will see some toys celebrating this series. They already did some this past year as Wal-Mart exclusives. But there are some they need to make, especially the villains! So yes, this is another wish list! I'll add some pictures for some visual aid to some of these figures too. I doubt any vehicles would get made, so none will be listed here. Even though 1 figure on my list definitely needs to have one! Now since Clones got some love last year, there aren't many that will be here. A new Phase II Clonetrooper is coming next year, so that's another reason why I'm light on Clones.

DELUXE FIGURES

1. General Grievous. The VC Grievous is a bad figure. It's true. But the Clone Wars 2008 Grievous was actually good. Hasbro needs to make a new one combining the best of both figures: VC Grievous's realistic sculpt and CW Grievous with his swappable arms. Give this Grievous his regular and articulated swappable 4 arms, 4 lightsabers, his cape and a couple blasters and we have a new Deluxe Grievous which could be repainted to match his ROTS/CW look but he needs his 2003 paint job. 2. Yoda vs Chameleon Droid. If Hasbro were to ever use their prototype for a true SA Yoda, this would be it. But since they are having to make a Chameleon Droid from scratch it will be another repack of the ROTS Yoda. Yoda needs his lightsaber, cloak and be in his 2003 colors. The Chameleon Droid should have some translucent parts to show his "cloaking" ability and blasters. Image is best one Incould find from the Micro Series.

3. Cip Quad Gunner. This Clone was in Chapter 21, and with Grievous on this list and no clones, one was needed. This guy is the one who blasts away at Grievous and makes it possible for Ki-Adi, Shaak Ti & Aayla Secura to be rescued from Grievous. Plus his guns couldn't fit on a standard VC card, but easily can in Hasbro's VC Deluxe packaging. Image from Wookieepedia CW Episode 21 Review.

BASIC VINTAGE COLLECTION FIGURES

1. Padme Amidala (Ilum). Padme hasn't had many VC figures, only 2. And none of them are her main look from AOTC. Nicknamed Snowbunny Padme by collectors when this figure came out in 2008 it would make a great lead in to making an AOTC Padme. But getting back on topic, Padme helped Yoda while investigating a disturbance Yoda sensed at the Ilum Temple. She needs her blaster and a shawl. And maybe a swappable normal head too. 2. Durge. Now this was a cool new villain! The Dark Horse comics of the time developed his character, but in the Micro Series he was nearly indestructible! Obi-Wan was able to defeat him, but his body parts slowly began to come back together. Now he's in the official Disney Canon appearing in the Doctor Aphra comic series. His best figure was the one that came with his speeder bike, and while I doubt Hasbro makes a new one for him, he could borrow one from the Biker Scout. He needs his jetpack, twin blaster pistols and a long rifle. Image from Rebelscum.

3. Obi-Wan Kenobi. Repacking the Clone Wars Legacy Obi-Wan (needs a new head sculpt) shouldn't be too hard to do. He needs a removable Phase I Clonetrooper helmet so he can duel Durge. Easy and simple. Image from Rebelscum.

4. Anakin Skywalker. Anakin plays a big part in the Micro Series which culminates in a duel with Asajj Ventress on Yavin 4, where the Rebel Alliance would later establish a base. The 2003 Anakin wasn't a bad figure, but redressing the recent AOTC Anakin Padawan figure should be easy. And give him a black gloved right hand. Image from Rebelscum.

5. Kit Fisto. The Battle at Mon Calamari may be one of the best animated sequences ever done for Star Wars. Kit Fisto starred in that sequence, and his first figure captured his underwater look as he was shirtless and could be posed as if he was swimming underwater. Repacking his VC figure from before would be welcome as he is a popular Prequel era Jedi, or for the ladies updating the 2003 sculpt as seen below. Image from Rebelscum.

6. Mace Windu. Mace's battle on Dantooine was another incredible battle that showed a Jedi in action while the story went away from Obi-Wan & Anakin. Taking the Black Series 3.75 inch Mace figure and repainting him shouldn't be any trouble for Hasbro. Image from Rebelscum.

7. Asajj Ventress. If there's one villain badly needed, it surprisingly isn't Dooku. Although he and Ventress have a duel, it is not as interesting as the one she has with Anakin. Asajj has yet to be in the VC, and so she will have to be a newly sculpted figure but it shouldn't be too hard to repaint it to make a VC 2008 Clone Wars version. As a bonus, she should come with her animated head from 2003, and a realistic looking one. She needs to also have her unique red bladed lightsabers. I thought about adding her to the deluxe line so that she could have the lightsabers she uses when first seen but decided a standard version was needed instead. Image from Rebelscum.

8. Ki-Adi Mundi. If there is a Prequel era Jedi on most fan requests, Ki-Adi and Plo Koon are in the top 2. Ki-Adi plays a big part in the Chapter 20 of the Micro Series. Placing his uniquely sculpted head on a Jedi buck shouldn't be too hard. But he should come with his lightsaber and one he picked up from a fallen Jedi. 9. Shaak Ti. We have plenty of Ahsoka figures, but none for Shaak Ti in the VC. Like Ki-Adi, she plays a big role in Chapter 20, and the final 5 chapters of the Micro Series. If there was a way Hasbro still had the mold from her Target 2 pack from the Legacy days that would be good, but otherwise she would need to be a brand new sculpt. She would need her lightsaber and robe. Image from Rebelscum, ROTS Shaak Ti. Couldn't find a good image of the Legacy Shaak Ti as that one has a posable left elbow.

10. MagnaGuard. Grievous needs his body guards, and these figures go for a lot on the secondary market. They played a huge role in the last few chapters of the Micro Series and their delaying tactics on Shaak Ti helped Grievous kidnap Palpatine and set up the lead in to the beginning of Revenge of the Sith.
