VC Boba Fett (Morak)
Retail exclusives are necessary evils. Wally World and Target need incentives to keep customers coming in, and well, this figure is one of them. Although lately Target exclusives miraculously show up in stores, unlike Wally World who sometimes gets theirs picked up by Entertainment Earth (thank you EE! Now I can get that Deluxe Ahsoka!). With Boba Fett, as seen in The Mandalorian on the planet Morak, he was a Target exclusive who sold out in 5 seconds once he went up for preorder and so I chalked him up to a figure I wouldn't get and left it at that. Until he actually showed up in stores that is.
Now there are some differences in this and the deluxe one from BOBF. You'll notice he has different pants, a different skirt and his armor isn't exactly polished. He has the same 17 POA and as you'll see in the pictures he can achieve some cool action poses thanks to the new ball jointed hips. Now the fraying on the skirt does concern me long term, will it fall off at some point? Either way it is screen accurate to some degree as Boba is seen in Season 2 of The Mandalorian so with onscreen accuracy there comes a trade off.
When it comes to the sculpting and paint apps...wow! Hasbro nailed it! Especially the head sculpt which I like better than the BOBF version. The colors are largely the same as BOBF and more importantly just as clean. The helmet is removable and while it feels slightly out of scale it isn't exaggerated like Axe Woves is. Boba comes with his blaster rifle and pistol which fits and stays in his holster. One reason why this figure is the price that it is at is the paint applications. They are very complex. So while this figure has a deluxe price it comes on a standard Kenner card. No cardboard outer box. Also a plus!
Now is he essential for your collection? If you're a Mandalorian completist, yes. If you're a hardcore Star Wars or Boba Fett fan yes. If your kid wants Boba Fett and you see this figure, yes. But for a casual collector you might skip this one if you have the BOBF version.
1. Due to time constraints I didn't do a THWG, but he can do that with his rifle, it takes a little work but it can be done.
2. Showing off his blaster pistol.
3 & 6. Showing off his articulation and ready to shoot his flamethrower!! Really dig the new ball joint hips! Can't do this with the old ball socket ones.
4. Look at that handsome mug! But which Fett has the best unmasked head sculpt?!
5. Unmasked Deluxe Boba's. You can decide which head sculpt is best.
7. I swapped the helmets. I think the clean one is best for Tatooine Boba while the scuffed up one is best for Morak Boba. Thanks for reading!
