VC Koska Reeves
What's more popular than a male Mandalorian? Well, a female Mandalorian! Although in this case it's easier to find Koska Reeves than it is to find Bo Katan. Koska is a retail exclusive to Target, and her figure quickly went to clearance (as well as Migs Mayfield) as Target needs October to get space set up for Christmas shopping, or products that are delayed for logistical reasons. But appearances can be deceiving, just because this figure can be found at clearance prices doesn't mean it is a bad figure, but I do have a gripe.
On the figure itself, no gripe at all. As with the Black Series version, she shares Bo Katan's (Star)buck [had to do a BSG pun]. But unlike the Black Series version, it looks more like actress Mercedes Varnado aka former WWE star Sasha Banks. The head sculpt is what really sells this figure. Hasbro has done a much better job on headsculpts on new figures for the last 2-3 years and this is no exception. Mercedes/Sasha has a Mini Me with this figure. Even her hair is well detailed, and she doesn't have a simple hairstyle either! She also sports 17 POA and as you can see in the photos she's able to achieve a lot of action poses.
Some collectors are nitpicky about the armor, I am not. I just don't want it to be sloppy. Thankfully the paint is nice and clean, and no streaks. Now does she look exactly as she does on screen? Not exactly, but like I said, she needs to look somewhat different from Bo Katan and she does.
Now for my gripe, the accessories. She has a swappable helmeted head which is easy to switch out. The rangefinder does move but I don't want to move it because it seems fragile. Doesn't mean that it is. Her jetpack is also removable and is easy to get on and off. But that isn't the problem. The problem is her blaster. It is very, well, gummy. I have avoided having issues with this on other figures but with Koska I had a hard time getting her blaster into her holster. Once it's in, it won't fall out. But it is a chore getting it out and getting her to hold it. Thankfully she only has 1 pistol, so it won't be too big of a deal. She has no blaster rifle but can hold almost any spare ones you have.
In conclusion this is a good figure that you can get for a clearance price right now depending on how your local Target stores are now. Don't pay eBay prices for this figure now. While Bo Katan is the better figure, Koska holds up well. And if you remember prior female Mandalorian figures by Hasbro in the pre-Disney days those go for big $$. Grab a couple Koska figures, paint the helmet and armor different colors and build your own Lady Mandalorian Army!
Picture Key
1. Koska with her accessories, her blaster is inherent holster. Without the jetpack installed she easily stands up and has great balance.
2 & 3. Koska holding her blaster, and her jetpack is installed. She stands okay but I had a time getting her head to look up so I settled for a slight tilt. Getting her to hold her blaster takes work due to it being VERY gummy plastic.
4. Kneeling with the jetpack in. Had to lean her against the back wall to get the shot as she kept falling over.
5. Koska in her helmet. Swapping the helmeted head on for the other is simple. Another advantage of the barbell neck joint, and a separate helmeted and unhelmeted head!!
6. Was able to get her range finder to move down. It's still slightly fragile but placing the helmet head into just boiled water loosened it up.
7. Koska is ready to blast Dark Troopers to help rescue Grogu!
