POTF Lando Calrissian Review
On my list of Kenner Holy Grails, one is General Lando Calrissian. He was never released on a Kenner film card, but instead on a Power of the Force card. In fact, Lando was one of the last 17 figures released by Kenner in 1985.
General Lando is a well sculpted figure from 1985. He has the simple 5 point articulation that all figures from this era have. He comes with a Skiff Guard blaster, which isn't accurate to his pistol on film which fit on his chest holster. He also comes with a cloth cape, a new feature to the Kenner line beginning with Return of the Jedi. For Power of the Force, Kenner added a collector coin.
Now for the sculpt it is excellent for 1985. While the paint is not accurate to the costume seen onscreen, it doesn't seem messy or smeared. I will show some pictures of both the Kenner Lando and Stan Solo Lando for comparison purposes. (Note: I use the term Stan Solo for the reproduction Lando, I don't know if that particular Lando is an actual Stan Solo one, but it is a fan created figure. Kinda like how Xerox is used for making a copy of a sheet of paper)
Now, I have made my desire to acquire this figure well known. But at the price it goes for I'm okay if I miss out. There are customs by Stan Solo that go for much cheaper than what this figure goes for (and the outfit is painted to closely resemble how he looked onscreen). So while this is out of reach for now, it is still a great figure and the only Lando you can use for victory celebration scenes. Sadly, Hasbro isn't making this one for the Retro Collection next year. Images from eBay.
1. Kenner POTF Lando Calrissian. As you can see, he's a good Kenner era figure! Sadly I couldn't find a picture of the Collector Coin he came with.
2. That is the prices that this figure will run you on eBay. As you can see, it's a lot!
3 & 4. Stan Solo Lando. You can see it's accurate to the onscreen version, unlike the Kenner one. This figure will run you about $43 on eBay which of course is a lot less than the Kenner version will.
