Vintage Collection Anakin Skywalker Jedi Padawan AOTC

 A new Vintage Collection figure! Well, new to the VC anyway. This version of Anakin came out as one of the first 3.75 inch Black Series figures back in 2014. He's the same figure, except for a new photo real head sculpt, and something his Black Series release didn't come with.


Anakin is a repacked figure but since his Padawan version from AOTC didn't make it in the 1st VC run, Hasbro makes amends here and gives collectors a shot at getting him on a Kenner style card. The card image is good, with Anakin ready to strike with his lightsaber. It looks like a scene from the film but possibly from a deleted scene. But it's not a computer generated image so A plus is the grade on the card.

Anakin has 14 POA (1 ball joint head; 2 ball jointed shoulders, elbows, knees and ankles; 2 swivel wrists and 1 swivel waist and 2 ball socket hips) and can do most action poses. The hips are hidden beneath the skirt so the figure doesn't look too bulky. He comes with an unlit hilt, lightsaber, mechanical hand & a new one: a cloak. You have to remove the head to get the cloak on or off but that's easily done. In my opinion, wearing the cloak makes him look like Vader, so you may want to have him wearing it if you display off the card. He has the cloak on in the card.

Hasbro made a photo real update to the head sculpt, and I'm not a fan. It's better than the 2014 Anakin, but it doesn't resemble Hayden Christensen all that well IMO. But the sculpt and the paint are all on point. Switching out his right hand for the mechanical right one is easy, and he holds the lightsaber well in either hand but it fits his right hand best.

Personally this is what I hoped Hasbro would do, but instead with a brand new head sculpt. He isn't the only VC figure that is a repack that could be improved with an all new head sculpt. Don't get me wrong, this is a welcome addition, and so is that Kenner card. I understand the budgets for new sculpts but a good Hayden face sculpt can be used for Spirit Anakin, Revenge of the Sith Anakin and even Clone Wars Anakin. This figure got selected partially for the 20th Anniversary of AOTC but also for his appearance in the flashback scene from Kenobi. If you like collecting VC cards, I recommend buying. Even if you collect loose figures you'll want this one over the Black Series one because of the cloak.

SWTVC & SWS 2024 March Madness Tournament Begins

  Every year, the SWTVC on Instagram does a Vintage Collection version of March Madness. And due to my attendance at Fan Expo New Orleans, I don't have an article completely ready to go, so once again, I'll do my own March Madness event settled by, you guessed it, coin flips! 2024 Last Figure Standing

  Once again, Last Figure Standing is back for 2024! The rules are simple, 10 figures in order of preference. And another reminder this is for the Vintage Collection, I don't know if there is anything similar for the Black Series but if there is I'll share it here. Also note this was written in late July, as after SDCC, I have a few changes from last year's list since some of those are being made, but I don't see any changes for when this will start. And I should point out that voting hasn't started yet, but I am simply getting a jump start as I just got the VC Jabba the Hutt yesterday, and don't have time for a review and comparison to the 2010 Legacy Collection Jabba ready to go.
