New Comic Book Proposals for Marvel Star Wars
I've made several blog posts about the modern Marvel Star Wars comic book run, which I have said has had some of the best stories in the Disney era. But Marvel is really missing out on boosting sales while being devoted to some monthly series that don't exactly have issues flying off shelves. Looking at you Bounty Hunters and Dr Aphra. While I am a fan of the OT era mainly, I do enjoy Prequel era stories as well. Some of these would be good ideas for a miniseries. All of these would be Disney Canon. Some would make great monthly series possibilities. So please, read on!
MINI SERIES
1. Rey Skywalker New Jedi Order. It's a lame title and I feel that a Disney Plus series about Rey's New Jedi Order could happen I think anything post Episode 9 would benefit from having comics bring it to life. How does the galaxy look post Exegol? How does Rey find students other than Finn who would also have a big role. This should focus more on Jedi hopefuls than galactic events and governments but maybe we could see how Rey deals with being a Skywalker, or if the truth of who she really is gets out, how that would go down.
2. Rangers of The New Republic. The series is canceled but this could make for a great comic book miniseries and give us new adventures of Cara Dune, and show us what Hera Syndulla (who was rumored to appear in the series after Disney fired Gina Carano). What role do the Rangers serve? Who are they? No doubt the script for the show has been written just put this in comic book format.
3. Yoda. We know a lot about Yoda, but how did he become a Grand Master? By the time of the High Republic Era he is one of the Grand Masters. Now we don't need to get into the origins of his species but this could definitely be a pre-High Republic Era story and give insight into a time where Disney has yet to choose to tell stories in.
NEW MONTHLY SERIES
1. The Mandalorian: The Early Years. We are already getting comic adaptations of the episodes but other than flashbacks we know little about Din Djarin. But how did Din become a bounty hunter? Who influenced him, and also, how did he get the reputation he has in the series first episode? I have a feeling this could be a series that could generate huge sales. Anything Mandalorian sells.
2. Obi-Wan Kenobi. If Marvel plays their cards right, this could be a long running series. There are so few stories in Disney Canon that have his early days in Jedi training that have been told. His first days as Qui-Gon's apprentice haven't been told yet in the Disney era. Then after a time a series of Obi-Wan training Anakin in his early days could happen. Just as Vader has had some monthly series that have fleshed his character out I think Obi-Wan deserves something similar.
3. Ahsoka. I haven't hidden my love for Ahsoka, she's my 2nd favorite character behind Luke Skywalker. But there was going to be a much different plan for Ahsoka in Clone Wars Season 7 that included a new love interest for her (a Han Solo type guy). The Young Adult novel Ahsoka showed how she got her white bladed lightsabers and how she became Fulcrum. This series could be a lead in to the Rebels animated series. It could also be a great parallel series to the upcoming Andor Disney Plus series as it could take place at the same time.
4. Knights of the Old Republic. With the game coming back, this would be the perfect time to bring this back as a monthly comic series. It doesn't need to use the characters from the Legends Dark Horse series, but could be an anthology series. Focusing on different characters across that era before possibly choosing one character to make as the main focus. It worked for Quinlan Vos back in Legends.
5. Darth Vader. Before you tell me they have one already, it will soon end as this takes place between Empire & Jedi. What I propose here is another series that takes place between ROTS & ANH. This is an unexplored part in Disney's SW timeline even still, and there are still some Jedi still out there that I doubt Inquisitors can handle. Just let Charles Soule write it.
