Kenner Bespin Han Solo

 Fun fact, I didn't have this figure until a few years ago. I found Bespin Han and Bespin Luke and scored them both for a total of $20. Han was complete, Luke wasn't. But anyway, this figure isn't bad. But it isn't great either. But it does improve on the 1978 Han Solo which Kenner had a hard time deciding which size head to use. But this figure represents a problem Kenner had with Han Solo.

This is called the Bespin Han Solo despite the fact that it's the outfit he wears for most of the movie. The sculpt is a decent one from head to toe. The head, I'm happy to say is correctly proportioned. But his hair is the wrong color. Han has brown hair. Here Kenner gives him black hair. But if it's the price to pay for getting Han to be improved upon, then okay. Han has the same 5 POA as most other figures made at this time. There is good detail on his jacket, and the paint job while not necessarily film accurate (his boots in the movie were black, here they are painted the same color as his pants) but take into account this was 1980. Kenner did the best they could with the money they had to spend. The head sculpt doesn't resemble Harrison Ford at all, but then again back then accurate face sculpts were not done.

Han's included accessory, his blaster is not his blaster. It's a Rebel blaster. Now it does fit in his hand well. So does Han's true blaster, which you can take from the 1978 Han unless you remove Hoth Han's blaster from his "holster". Han can hold almost any weapon without trouble, even the reproduction weapons as I just tested to make sure he could do that before typing this.

Now while this Han is an improvement, it isn't the best one. Now yes, you need this figure in your collection. He fits in for most of the recreation of ESB that you can do, except the Carbon freeze scene. Despite the accuracy flaws it is still a good, not great action figure but it is Han, you can tell that it is Han and well, he occupies a slot until Endor Han came out in 1983.
