May The Fourth Be With You!

Here we are, May 4th, or May the 4th be with you! The unofficial "Star Wars Day". The actual one is May 25th but you cannot really do a clever pun with that now can you?! So how do you celebrate this day? Well that's up to you! Today Hasbro has a live stream that will debut new Star Wars merchandise. On How I Met Your Mother, they watched the OT. On TBS, the entire Skywalker Saga will show, starting with ANH at 1 AM Central, so by this posting it will have already started.

But what makes May the 4th special is how individual fans celebrate. Some hate the prequels and love the sequels. Some hate the sequels and the OT but love the prequels. Some love the OT, tolerate the prequels and hate the sequels. Star Wars fans are a different mix of what they like and don't like. The point is, it is an individual fan day! But there are a few things you can do to celebrate it. Here are a few things I do:

1. Make Blue milk! Food coloring is easier and tastier to use now. Just add blue food coloring to milk, almond milk, etc. I prefer to use unsweetened coconut milk, as food coloring now has a little sugar in it. But a hint: take a sip before adding any sweeteners!

2. Buy or read a Star Wars book. I'm always in the latter category. Currently I'm reading The Approaching Storm a Legends novel that is a prequel to AOTC. So today is the perfect day to start reading a book, or buying a new one! Your local library will likely have all the Star Wars books for you to check out as well. Have a young child? There are young reader novels that your library might have, or your local used bookstore, if your town has one.

3. Wear Star Wars clothes! Shirts, pants, shoes, shorts, etc. If wearing to work just be sure it fits your workplace dress code. Even attaching a pin to a shirt or cufflinks can show of your Force fashion!

4. Buy a child their 1st Star Wars toy. This might be the most important thing to do. Getting a child their 1st SW toy, especially if they like the movies can be a big deal. They will be the ones to continue the collecting hobby. While it may be hard to do this at brick and mortar stores, there are online retailers like Big Bad Toy Store, Dorkside Toys, Brian's Toys, Entertainment Earth, Amazon, Hasbro Pulse and eBay. Whether it's a Vintage Collection, Black Series, Mission Fleet or a plus Grogu, they hopefully love it and put away the game controllers for a little while.

5. Buy a collectable for yourself! Amazon, Gamestop, Hasbro Pulse, all have Star Wars specials today. So does Target! Check in stores or online (mainly online).

6. Watch any of the movies/tv shows! Disney Plus has offered new series plus all the old shows from the 1980's including the underrated (IMO) Ewok movies. If you have any physical media (the 9 Skywalker Saga movies, Solo & Rouge One, the 1st 6 seasons of Clone Wars, Rebels & Season 1 of Resistance) your choices are limited, but you have options!

So that's it. This is YOUR DAY to celebrate your love for Star Wars however you wish to. Hopefully this guide helps you out a little bit. For what it's worth I'm rewatching the OT on May 4th-May 6th so I have the watching and reading parts covered. But again, if you want to celebrate here is your guide. May the 4th be with you!
