What the VC Mandalorian Luke MIGHT Look Like

Image
We all remember December of 2019, the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian titled "The Rescue". Din, Bo Katan, Koska Reeves, Fennec Shan & Cara Dune, and a captured Moff Gideon trapped on the bridge as Grogu tiredly looks on as Darktroopers are punching open the bridge doors. Then a single X-Wing flies by. "One X-Wing?! Great! We're saved!" Cara says sarcastically. Yes, Cara you are all saved and it was one of the most exciting moments captured on screen since Disney bought Star Wars. Luke Skywalker arrives and goes medieval on some Darktroopers. But what will his upcoming VC figure look like? It is safe to say this will be a simple repack of VC 175. Hasbro likes repacks and my custom figure is a simple recipe: VC 175 Luke VC 22 Endor Luke's right gloved hand Black Series WM exclusive Jedi Luke's belt Saga Collection Jabba's Palace Luke's robe See? Simple! As you can see in the images there isn't likely to be many, if any changes.

Hasbro Eliminating Plastic Packaging

This week Hasbro debuted what will be their new packaging going forward beginning next year, the elimination of plastic on toy boxes. Marvel Legends, Transformers, Power Rangers and Fortnite will soon be getting this. So to will GI Joe and Star Wars. So what will this mean for Hasbro toylines? What will this mean for Star Wars toys in general? I have thoughts. So did the late great George Carlin. So let's go! Now, these won't be blind boxes. Pictures of the toys will be on the front cover. Admittedly, I haven't taken a hard look at the images, but like many collectors I have some concerns. More on that later. Admittedly, I don't know if Mattel, Playmates, Super7 or other toy companies will go this route. But since I run a blog about Star Wars figures (although I have thought about making a blog about Masters of the Universe figures), this will be all about Hasbro. So when you see a toy on the aisles of Wal-Mart, Target or a local comic book store or another toy retail

AOTC Vintage Collection Wish List

As we are in the 20th Anniversary of AOTC, there have been a few figures made. Obi-Wan, Mace, Zam Wessell, peasant disguise Anakin & Padme just to name a few. Oh, and some guy named Jango Fett. You might have heard of him. While Mace & Obi-Wan are getting repacked, and a new version of Anakin is coming, here is my wish list for AOTC VC, with one in particular being long overdue! 1. Padme (Factory Chase). In the 2013 Black Series Arena Padme came out, and is a good figure. But I doubt the Mouse wants a woman wearing a ripped up top being released again. Adding clothing to that sculpt or making new head and hands from the Evolutions Padme would be nice and easy. This is her main look after all! 2. Captain Typho. Repack the Legends Wave figure on a Kenner card. Easy. Simple. Unless they lost the mold. That could be a problem getting him on card. 3. Elan Sel'Sabagno. The Death Stick guy. I know Hasbro nor Disney wants to do any drug dealers but all they need to do is make a

Hasbro Live Stream Recap

Image
Hasbro Pulse hosted a Star Wars live stream this past Wednesday and while the Vintage Collection had the most new products announced in both mainline and pipeline releases, the Black Series got some good announcements as well! So what is coming up, and what have I pre-ordered already? You'll see it here as I will be adding lots of pictures in this post, so buckle up and let's get started! Black Series Kicking off the Black Series is the announcement of Saw Gerrara from Rogue One, who will be a deluxe figure due to his size and accessories, such as his breath mask and staff. This is a brand new sculpt also, so score one for the Black Series! The Comic Book figures return and cover Disney Canon and Legends/Infinities. First up is Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker in his all white armor from ROTJ Infinities. Based off this picture it looks like Hasbro has trimmed the cape length, which was a complaint I had about the most recent Vader who was part of ESB's 40th anniversary line

Finding A Kenner Holy Grail

Image
I went to a small town comic con yesterday, not really expecting to find much. I had been looking for trade paperbacks but struck out. Most of the comics I went through I already had. It happens. I was surprised at the toy selections although some prices were just...high. But there were some good values I did pass on. Black Series Count Dooku for $25, First Contact figures for $10 per figure, and I am kicking myself for not buying the blueprints to the original and refit Enterprise! Plus a GI Joe Retalliation Zartan figure for $18. There was an Ughnaught figure from the Legacy Collection but he was $45. I settled on a Galoob Tasha Yar for $10 on card. Now I just need Riker. I also got a few GI Joe Rise of Cobra figures which I am using as Knights of Ren. Even found a mint VC Kylo Ren to keep carded for $15, but the only figure I overspent on was the McQuarrie Concept Rebel Trooper for $20. I found a Super7 Filmation Teela I talked down to $20 which I wanted because it came with a swo

Coleman Trebor AOTC Character Review

Image
You saw him in Attack of the Clones as the Jedi who landed near Dooku, ignited his lightsaber and got promptly shot and killed by Jango Fett. Other than being a cool looking alien, who, yes, did get a 3.75 inch action figure, what is known about this Jedi Master? Well, you're going to find out through this blog post as I cover Coleman Trebor in both Legends and Disney Canon. A member of the Vurk species, he was tall and physically imposing. In Disney Canon, his story is simply landing near Count Dooku and getting blasted by Jango Fett and falling to his death. He replaced Yareal Poof on the Jedi Council. He was replaced by Kit Fisto after Geonosis. The Legends biography is actually more fleshed out. Same species and same background being the only one of his species to become a Jedi, but he played a role in saving Chancellor Palpatine from assassin droids. He would use his sheer size to intimidate hostile beings (as he does in Disney Canon) and preferred negotiating over fighting

Kenner AT-AT Driver & TIE Pilot

Image
The AT-AT Driver is one of the first figures that shares a mold with another figure, in this case the TIE Pilot, which I'll also cover him here since both figures aren't remarkable. Sharing molds is what companies like Kenner, Hasbro, Mattel and Playmates do today in order to save money. Back then it wasn't so common like it is today. First up is the AT-AT Driver. Instead of being all black, he has a grey bodysuit with while gloves, white shoulder pads and a white helmet. His lone accessory is a long blaster rifle, similar to the one that came with the Hoth Rebel Commander. The design of this figure would translate to both the prequel and sequel trilogies. Clone Speeder pilots from AOTC, and some of the Clone fighter pilots wore similar outfits, with the helmets being different. In Episode 8 the First Order AT-AT drivers wore this exact same outfit, with a slightly different helmet. If you had the AT-AT, you needed this figure. Otherwise he isn't needed in your collec

Random Star Wars Thoughts March 28th thru April 2nd

It's a slow week news wise. Well Kenobi being moved to May 27 with the 1st episodes debuting is big news (being moved for Ms Marvel). New collecting news will take center stage next week, as this upcoming Wednesday (typed March 31) is a live stream event. Honestly, I'm finding it hard to enjoy Star Wars comic books, and it's a reason I have largely ignored super hero titles. No it isn't woke points but it's crossovers! Vader Down was cool, Screaming Citadel can't even clear out Ollie's at a $2.99 price for the Trade Paperback. I liked the Bounty Hunter Wars (Legends Shadows of the Empire was better, but this was a fun read). Now Crimson Reign in unfolding and it is just too much. One event every 2 years is fine. But this all is coming back to back. Charles Soule had a great story going until this unfolded in the monthly series. Greg Pak has an interesting subplots as well in his Vader comic (like going to Exegol and Padme's handmaidens still being aliv
