Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Attack of the Clones

2022 marks the 20th Anniversary of Attack of the Clones. While it is, IMO the weakest film of the Lucas Saga, I'd rather watch that on a 48 hour loop than a second of the sequel trilogy. Okay, Disney bashing aside it's a big deal! This movie introduced Hayden Christensen in the role of Anakin Skywalker, the late, great Christopher Lee as Count Dooku, and we learn things about the Jedi Order we didn't really know before (such as Jedi not being allowed to love, or form attachments). But what it's really known for? Making Yoda an action star! Watching the midnight 1st showing and the audience cheering when this happened is one of my all time favorite movie experiences!

What I won't cover are the toys. They sucked. The action features made them impossible to fit in vehicles, and well, parts broke easily. I almost quit collecting at this time. But what I will cover are some VC figures from AOTC, and a few wish lists to go with it. It took super articulation and technological advancements in 3.75 inch figures to make AOTC toyetic! Although the metal lightsabers and magnetic hands made for a cool play feature. It's why Kit Fisto is the only figure from that time I haven't tossed away.

I'll also cover the lead ins to AOTC. The Legends novel The Approaching Storm will get a review, and so will some Legends comics. There hasn't been a lot covered in the new Canon about the lead up to AOTC events, so there won't be much done there, aside from the Padme young reader novels. But of course AOTC leads into the Clone Wars, first mentioned by Ben Kenobi in A New Hope. I'll also take a look into Clone Wars comics (Dark Horse's Star Wars: Republic comics) and of course the Clone Wars microseries and the 2008 Clone Wars movie and series.

Of course this year also marks the 25th Anniversary of the Special Editions and the 45th Anniversary of A New Hope. Plus we are only a couple months away from the return of Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan and Hayden Christensen as Vader in the Disney Plus series, Kenobi. I already covered the SE anniversaries but you know I won't be able to ignore A New Hope's upcoming one either. But from now until Memorial Day weekend I'll have something related to Attack of the Clones. Reviews, toys, and character profiles, covering Legends and Disney Canon.
