6. Jabba's Palace Luke Skywalker

For Christmas of 1983, I would get my favorite Star Wars action figure of the Kenner era: Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker (well that's what I called him anyway). When the Vintage Collection debuted, their first Luke Skywalker from Return to the Jedi put Luke in his Endor duel outfit on the classic 1983 Kenner card. But fan's correctly pointed out that Luke's figure didn't match the card, so Hasbro made a change to the card and we got Endor Capture Luke. A Luke Skywalker in his Jedi outfit from Jabba's Palace was put on a ROTJ card, but it was a deleted scene. When Hasbro ended the Vintage Collection in 2013, fans gave up hope we'd ever get a modern version of the 1983 Luke.

Then 2019 happened. At the last San Diego Comic Con, Hasbro did an exclusive 3 pack featuring Luke Skywalker called Jedi Destiny. Luke was in 3 outfits, a Stormtrooper, X-Wing pilot and his Jabba's Palace outfit. Fans immediately wanted single card versions, the 1st came that November with X-Wing Luke. But, next up, would be Jabba's Palace Luke!

Luke still has the same 14 POA as the deleted scene aka Sandstorm Luke. Here, he features the brand new head sculpt, which is one of the best done for Luke in the 3.75 inch scale. The painted sand on the boots is gone, no dirt or grime and it looks clean. He comes with his lightsaber and the blaster he almost shoots Jabba with. But the best accessory is the cloak! Sandstorm Luke came with an oversized Jedi robe. Here, he comes not only with the correct color cloak, it also is a perfect fit for Luke.

So, why isn't this higher? Well, if thigh swivels were added Luke could achieve more dynamic action poses, such as his backflip onto the skiff. Also, for some reason, Luke seems to be looking either to his left or right, not straight ahead. Some samples have this issue, it just varies. But, while there are plenty of accessories, it needed one more: the belt included with the Sandstorm Luke (also included with the 3.75 Black Series Jedi Luke). While this figure does need a couple improvements it's still an excellent figure. But it's also great to keep on card, just as the 1983 version. Also my favorite Kenner card. Ever.
