Stories Matter
Can Legends fans enjoy some Disney Canon stories?
Simply put, yes. While overall I'm not a fan of Disney Canon, there have been some very good stories done. The current Marvel run of comics have had great stories, especially from Darth Vader's monthly series. The 1st 6 issues of the 1st Star Wars monthly, Skywalker Strikes is an incredible story with a shocking end at issue 1. The Lando mini series as well as the Han Solo mini series are fun reads. Shattered Empire is a 4 issue look at a post Endor galaxy with appearances by the main characters, even though Kes Dameron and Shara Bey (Poe Dameron's parents) are the main protagonists in that series.
Some books have also been good. Timothy Zahn is nearly wrapping up his 2nd Thrawn Trilogy. Claudia Gray has written some of the best new books as well. Master And Apprentice is an incredible Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan adventure. Bloodline is one of the best ever Leia stories, and gives us a look at events leading up to Episode 7. Across The Stars, while not having any main film characters in the book, is considered one of the best Star Wars books ever written.
While Legends gets my personal vote for post ROTJ stories, some of the Disney Canon stuff isn't bad. The Mandalorian is exciting fans, as is the upcoming Ahsoka series which has fans circulating rumors that a Disney version of "Heir to the Empire" is in the works.
The same can be true for those who like Disney Canon. It's okay to enjoy Legends, and in some cases they can connect the dots to stories they enjoy in Disney Canon. As long as the stories are good, and fans enjoy them regardless whether it is or isn't Canon, Legends, etc. That in the end is what really matters. Enjoying a good story.
