Unplanned Topic: Recent Figure Haul

Image
First things first:  I seriously aged 10 years last night. But back to the topic, I had little to no time this week to write a post. Normally, I write a post on Thursday and clean it up Saturday to publish on Sunday. But, my 9-5 was busy, I was sick most of the week, and I just didn't have the time. But, I remembered an old toy store that had a bunch of stuff, and since I was sick last weekend, I decided to drive out there to see what could be had, and of course to spend some work bonus bucks. I was hoping to find some Playmates Star Trek figures, but they hadn't put up anything new. But, I found a few great deals, and nearly pulled off finding a complete scene of figures. And yes, I found a Cantina figure!  1. Unknown GI Joe Cobra Pilot Action Figure I have no idea who this figure is, or what vehicle he drove. He has a flight helmet so I can only make an educated guess that he's a pilot. But I do know he shares a buck with Zartan, and has additional armor. He's custom...

First Look HasLab Cantina

PSYCHE! And now my review of the new VC Merrin action figure...just kidding! If the Cantina hadn't arrived at a proper time, I would have published my Merrin review. But I have the photos for her finished. This will NOT be an in depth look at the entire Cantina, just some quick looks, and my early impressions.  It arrived on Saturday, and it is aptly named on the outer box: It is DEFINITELY a dream item for me, and no doubt many others. Like The Ghost, it comes with this outer box, and an inner shipping box to protect the main box, which arrived in perfect condition. This will not be a review of the constructed Cantina, as I don't have my display space ready, and that has been due to the summer heat and my blackout curtains cost more than I had anticipated, as I have to get them custom made. Sigh. But, I'll do my review slowly, and I anticipate doing a full review later this year once I have some space cleared out. A temporary option may be my current display table, but I ...

POTF2 30 Years Later

Image
In August of 1995, Star Wars made a triumphant return to toy aisles everywhere, as the Power Of The Force 2 line, or simply put, POTF2 hit stores. Not since 1986 had there been plenty of Star Wars figures to choose from, as that year the POTF figures, and any leftover ROTJ hit clearance aisles, along with Droids and Ewoks figures. I refuse to talk about, or even acknowledge the Bend Ems line of figures. Sure, they scratched an itch, but weren't true toys. In the past, toylines were made if there was a cartoon, movie or live action show. With Star Wars, there was only a VHS release of the Original Trilogy, with remastered sound. So Kenner, who back then had just come into the Hasbro family, was taking a big gamble: putting out toys without a weekly TV program, or movie in theaters. Would it succeed? Would it bring the brand down? Well, it didn't flop, and they sold quite well.  I've mentioned it before, but the Timothy Zahn novel Heir To The Empire brought Star Wars back in...
