Vintage Collection Legends Wishlist
Since I have recently reviewed the Heir To The Empire 3 Pack, my love of Star Wars Legends, aka (in my opinion anyway) Star Wars Truths, has grown. Big time! In the days before Disney, Hasbro touched on the old expanded universe with the 1996 Shadows Of The Empire line, and the 1998 EU wave for POTF2. The 30th Anniversary and Legacy Collection line gave us some more Legends figures, and some of the 1980's Marvel Comics figures as well. While this wishlist is quite long, I have decided to stick to what has already been done: Thrawn Trilogy, Dark Empire, Dark Forces, Shadows of the Empire and Vintage Marvel Comics. While I would love a Kyp Durron, Callista, or a Kueller figure, most people probably won't. All images were pulled from online searches and aren't mine. I'll give credit where available to who took them.
SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE
1. Dash Rendar
This is the Sixer figure, and it could be shrunk down to fit the One True Scale. While this version has Han's blaster, I would like it if his POTF2 weapons got a modern upgrade, but I don't want a Deluxe Dash. With this figure available as a Sixer I feel we could be seeing Dash in the VC at some point in the next couple years, but it isn't a guarantee.
2. LE-BO2D9
It's a shame we haven't got Dash's co-pilot in this scale before. He existed as a Micro Machines figurine, if I correctly recall. This custom looks incredible, and he is kinda personality wise like K-2SO, and that's why I want him.
3. Guri.
Guri originally was to get a POTF2 figure, but my guess is with Xizor clogging racks, that's the reason she got shelved. Had she become a figure, her 1st photo above would be the outfit she would be in. The 2nd photo looks to be a custom of her SOTE: Evolutions outfit from the sequel comic miniseries. I'd be happy with either version of Guri. As far as Xizor is concerned, I'd be happy if he was repacked from the Legacy Collection. Despite his new Sixer figure being currently available.
4. Luke Skywalker Coruscant Guard Disguise
I went with the POTF2 version, since this was the best image I could find. But it comes with what I'd like a new version to, except for a blaster. The helmet needs to be swappable, not removable. That way he could be a troop builder as well. I gave serious thought to his yellow vest version, but Hasbro needs to do a new Endor Luke buck before that can happen. With a Sixer version of this figure now available, shrinking it down for the VC is more likely to happen.
THRAWN TRILOGY
1. Mara Jade.
She won this past year's March Madness, and with the HTTE 3 pack out, it feels like Mara could be getting her VC debut any day now. But she needs to be an all new sculpt, or using the shorter Tonnika Sister buck. She needs her blaster and lightsaber, and this image on her card.
2. Talon Karrde
I want this version of Karrde, not the version we got in the Legacy Comic Pack. Here, he looks like a sophisticated man, not a dirty lowdown, broke guy. He's got Lando's fashion sense, but Han Solo's morals, as The Creator (Timothy Zahn) no doubt in my head intended. He just needs a blaster.
3. Rukh.
To be honest, I want the comic book version of Rukh, as seen in the first picture. But we're likely to get him as seen in Rebels in the 2nd picture. His staff, and knife should be included. And the articulation needs to be perfect, like the Zeb figure but obviously smaller in height.
4. Leia Organa-Solo.
This was how Leia looked in the HTTE adaptation, and should Hasbro make this figure she needs to be a brand new sculpt. Leia is pregnant, but isn't showing it, as you can see in the above comic images. I have always liked this outfit, and the new headsculpt could be used on a new Slave Leia, or Huttslayer Leia. She needs the green bladed lightsaber Luke built for her. And maybe a training remote.
5. Luuke Skywalker
Honestly, I could see a 2 pack, but I've got the Sixers both up to show how they look together. The upper body could be from an Acolyte Jedi, and the lower legs could be used to make a new Bespin Luke. The look of Luuke comes from the Last Command comic adaptation. Shrinking down Sixers into the One True Scale also (I don't know this for a fact, just a hypothesis) could save Hasbro money on tooling budgets, so there's a thought.
DARK FORCES VIDEO GAME
1. Kyle Katarn
I've never played the 1st game, and don't know if Kyle used a lightsaber in it. But, he was popular enough to get a POTF2 EU figure back in 1998, and in 2009 got packed in with a Yuuzhan Vong Warrior as part of a comic pack. Personally, I'd like an updated version of the POTF2 Kyle, but give him a lightsaber. He also needs a blaster pistol as well.
2. Jan Orrs
Kyle's main squeeze, at first I thought they could put a new head on the Dr Aphra buck and call it a day. But, she could be a slight retool of Merrin's VC figure, with a new head sculpt and belt so that she can holster her weapon. She should have been available as a figure both times years ago, and she's needed especially now.
3. Darktrooper
If the Build A Droid mold still exists, it should be used here. And this would justify the deluxe price. The other option (and the most likely one) would be to repaint the VC Darktrooper we currently have. Which would suck.
DARK EMPIRE (1 & 2)
1. Imperial Sentinel
These figures were based of the 1985 Kenner Atha Prime figure for their attempt at keeping the line going beyond 1985. Dark Empire artist Cam Kennedy used the image to be his Imperial Sentinels, which were overpowered Emperor's Royal Guards. But, with Atha Prime now in Disney Canon (Jedi Knights issue 2), Hasbro could make this figure, and repaint it to be Imperial Sentinels as well.
2. Luke Skywalker
In the comic, Luke turns to the dark side. His outfit is different, a hybrid Vader look. Even his first appearance in issue 1 he looks like Vader, but in silhouette form. Using some pieces of Kylo Ren and the new Vader sculpt could make this figure a reality. The Hot Toys DE Luke looks incredible. And it would be neat to see the Comic Pack DE Luke get a big upgrade. He should come with his standard green lightsaber, and a red bladed one as well.
3. Clone Palpatine (young)
Making an "old" Clone Palpy is easy. I took the head from the Legacy Collection Palpy from the ESB scene and put it on the VC Palpy buck. Easy. Making a younger one from the end of DE1 hasn't been done since the 1998 POTF2 EU wave. And that figure needs an update. Using some Kylo Ren and Vader parts could be possible, maybe even using some ERG parts as well since Palpy isn't exactly very tall. He just needs a removable left hand to re-enact his final duel with Luke. Just never do the one from the Legacy Collection Comic pack ever again!
4. Sedriss (DE2)
Palpy needs a stooge, more importantly one with a lightsaber. And that's where Sedriss comes in. He would need to be a newly tooled figure, but he could be used as a basis for the rest of the Knights of Ren. He just needs a red bladed lightsaber.
5. Kam Solusar
If Palpy needs a stooge, Luke needs a Jedi to train. That's where Kam comes in. He was one of Palpy's dark side users, but an encounter with Luke brought him back to the light side. He could borrow some of Sedriss' sculpt, but a new head. His upper body could be a re-use of Cal Kestis. He needs his lightsaber, of course.
6. Boba Fett
Take the VC 186 Boba, weather up the paint and slap it on a Dark Empire card. It's a simple repaint, and will likely be deluxe since the Boba Fett Tax has been in effect since the 12 inch figure came out in 1979. But this was the 1st official confirmation that Boba survived the Sarlaac. Marvel's continuity wasn't exactly kept up, or mentioned much in Legends, except for Lumiya.
VINTAGE MARVEL COMICS
1. The Rik Duel Gang
This should be done as a 3 pack. And before you say "They all need to be tooled!", well technically they already have been. As Carbonite blocks in the Razor Crest. But if they don't want to go that route, Rik Duel could be a Cal Kestis repaint with a new head sculpt. Dani could be an Aurra Sing repaint, or better yet a re-use of a Tonnika Sister buck. Chihdo could be an easy repaint of Greedo.
2. Lumiya
Lumiya got a comic pack figure with Luke Skywalker which re-enacted the infamous Marvel issue 96 Duel with a Dark Lady. Her real name was Shira Brie, and unknown to Luke and the Rebel Alliance, she was Vader's agent sent to infiltrate the Rebellion. She and Luke shared a few smooches before he shot down her TIE Fighter during a Rebel mission and losing his stand in the Alliance. Thanks to Chewbacca, who found out about her past, Luke was cleared. But Vader rescued her and gave her enhanced cybernetics to repair her damage, and she made it her mission to destroy Luke Skywalker after this. She played a big role in turning Jacen Solo to the dark side as Darth Caedus. An updated Lumiya should come with a swappable unmasked head and her lightwhip. And I wouldn't complain if they made a figure of her 1st ever appearance in Issue 88:
3. Flint
My favorite single issue of Marvel's original Star Wars run is issue 92 The Dream. It not only marks the debut of artist Jan Duursema working on Star Wars (she would later team up with writer John Ostrander on the Dark Horse Republic series which saw Quinlan Vos and Aayla Secura debut, but also the true "Peak Star Wars" which was Legacy with Darth Krayt, Darth Talon and Cade Skywalker), but it's a great story. Flint is the main adversary, who debuted in Star Wars Annual 3 as someone who demanded that Luke Skywalker should train him to be a Jedi. Luke, fresh from Bespin refused to do so, and in the end of the issue, after his mother is killed in a battle, Flint is recruited by Darth Vader. Issue 92 has Flint in full armor, leading Imperial forces against Luke and the Rebels. He needs a swappable unmasked head, and a lightsaber.
4. Jaxxon
Yes he's got a Sixer figure, and yes, I'm posting that photo here. But he belongs in 3.75 inch scale! At this point, I'd be happy to get a Retro Collection Jaxxon! Now that he's in Disney Canon, he stands a chance to make his debut in the VC. But he's not the only Marvel Comics vintage character who's now in Disney Canon.
5. Valance
Valance the Bounty Hunter went toe to toe with Darth Vader in issue 50 of the old Marvel series, and came back in Issue 108, which came out a few years ago and is the last published Legends story. Recently he was the lead in the current Marvel Comics Bounty Hunters monthly that recently came to an end. The figure picture is a custom, but that's what it could look like if made. He's not only a bounty hunter, but also a cyborg, so he hits 2 points that justify making him an action figure. And I bet some of you thought I'd want Domina Tagge, didn't you?! Although they could use Holdo to make a Sixer version of her....
HONORABLE MENTIONS
The Solo Kids
Jacen, Anakin, and Jaina Solo. For Jacen and Jaina, in 2009 they got Legacy Collection figures in the outfits they're wearing in the photo. Anakin Solo hasn't gotten a figure. But, if Hasbro ever made all 3, I would be even more excited than I was for the HTTE 3 pack. My inability to track down Jacen and Jaina back then nearly caused me to completely quit collecting. While I found a Jacen, Jaina has been hard to find. But new versions, please. And while I hated Jacen becoming a Sith Lord, having him would pave the way for Darth Caedus one day. And yes, I want a Ben Skywalker figure too! But, the Solo Kids deserve to get figures made first.
CONCLUSION
I know that not all figures I listed would get made, but for me, Legends takes top billing over the OT, Prequels and Disney Era figures do. Don't get me wrong: I want OT and Prequel figures to get made. There are some Disney Era figures I'd like, and I have made another blog post which I'll soon publish to go over those figures. But, the 1998 EU wave showed that back then, Legends was popular. As long as you don't over produce Xizor. But with the Black Series getting Legends figures, I feel we are close to getting SOME of these figures in the future. Now, I need to get people acquainted with Kyp Durron, Streen, Dorsk 82 and Kirana Ti from the Jedi Academy: Leviathan miniseries and Kueller from the novel The New Rebellion. Speaking of Kueller:
Kueller was a badly under utilized bad guy. And would make for a damn good action figure, based on the images above. Just a thought. And a perfect way to wrap up my 450th blog post.

And where the EU figures truly began:

As I said on X, I was very much into SOTE. Dash was a fun character to play as. The very first Nintendo 64 code I ever hacked was the timer for the battle of Hoth. The epic battle at Ord Mantell Junkyard with IG-88!!!!!
