Heir To The Empire VC Review

Image
I first read Heir To The Empire in 1991, June of 1991 To be exact, and at the time of the College World Series that year. My favorite college team, LSU won their first baseball title that year, and won the most recent CWS, so I felt that it was appropriate to review this 3 pack now, as Heir To The Empire is the book that inspire as much imagination and creativity in me as much as the original Star Wars, aka A New Hope did. For 34 years, I've waited for these figures to be officially done in the One True Scale. But, that doesn't necessarily mean I think all 3 figures are perfect, far from it.  Since these are the Legends, aka Star Wars Truths (in my humble opinion, of course) versions of these figures, I will have special guests to help review these figures: my personal Legends customs of Luke Skywalker & Mara Jade that fall into the Legends/Truths camp. And to fill in for Luuke Skywalker will be my Comic Pack Dark Empire II Luke. So, I'll go into what I like, and what ...

My Extremely Early Last Figure Standing List

Image
With my VC Top 25 in 2025 done, now is the time to get ready for Last Figure Standing. Or as I like to also call it: half of my 2026 March Madness list. These are in order of desirability so 1 being the most important, 10 being important as well, but not as high as 1. So I'll save the chit chat for the end, and just get right to it:  1. Death Star II Luke Skywalker. I've wanted this figure redone since I saw the excellent Sixer version done for 2023. He needs a swappable flap down chest plate, and his lit and unlit lightsabers, with a space for the unlit hilt to hang on his belt. A pair of binders would also be nice. 2. Bespin Luke Skywalker. The VC 1.0 version of this figure is BADLY dated. He needs his blaster, lit and unlit lightsabers, and a good face sculpt for crying out loud!  3. Shaak Ti (AOTC) . I need more Geonosis Arena Jedi, and more importantly, Shaak Ti is in bad need of an upgrade. The only good version of her is part of a pricey 2 pack only available now ...

Hammerhead: A Star Wars Collecting Story

Image
For this review, I wanted to do something, deluxe. Why? Because this figure is deluxe, but also pays homage to the 3 figures that have come before him. And also because my favorite Kenner Era alien figure is, you guessed it, Hammerhead. With the Cantina HasLab coming later this year (I hope. As of this writing on Wed June 11th Hasbro has a livestream set for Friday Jun 13th, so hopefully some update will be offered), Hammerhead is an essential figure for that display. But there are 2 main gripes I have with this figure:  1. He should not be on a deluxe card with his original Kenner image. 2. He should have gotten a single card like the one he comes on for the cardboard Cantina Playset.  With that out of the way, I will say so far this is my best figure of 2025. Hands down. So far. There is more to come, but topping Hammerhead will be difficult. So let's take a look!  My blog post a couple weeks ago had the top picture. But as you can see, he's got plenty of excelle...
