WHY I LIKE THIS FIGURE: The only Disney shows I like are the 1st 2 seasons of The Mandalorian, Andor S1 (I haven't seen S2 yet but I read some spoilers and I want to see it one day), and the entire Rebels series. Garazeb, aka Zeb showed up, he reminded me of the early Chewbacca sketches by Ralph McQuarrie. Of course there is a McQuarrie Chewbacca action figure but that's a topic for a later discussion. Zeb has a bunch of articulation, and can do just about any pose you can imagine. He comes with 2 versions of his staff: 1 in the staff mode, and another in a blaster rifle mode. Both can fit onto his back to serve as a "holster". Great paint apps, great sculpt. He's got it all. I might have missed some other things but I'll rant on below.
WHY HE'S RANKED 12th: He shouldn't have been a deluxe figure, in my opinion. He could have fit on a normal card, getting the Zeb in the HasLab made me realize we got our wallets suckered. Even the Gamorrean Guard got a standard card release, Zeb should have gotten the same thing. Bump it up a few bucks, okay. Paying the same price as a basic Sixer, nah. Not okay. So basically he's ranked here because I'm whining about him being deluxe, when he shouldn't have been. Why? See the Gamorrean Guard.
COLLECTOR'S CHOICE 12th RANKED FIGURE:
VC 286 TESSEK (SQUID HEAD)
WHY I THINK COLLECTORS LIKE THIS FIGURE: This was the only reason I bought the Jabba's Denizens 4 pack: getting the accountant. Yes, in Legends Teseek was Jabba's accountant. He comes with a blaster pistol and thanks to Cal Kestis' legs, he sports modern articulation. This is a clever kitbash. New head and hands (and arms, maybe, I don't know) with Cal's legs and boom! A new figure! This was one of my favorites from the Kenner days, and I could finally retire the Teseek from the early 2000's in my Jabba's Palace set up. Plus, he checks off an Original 96 spot, and has a nice card. This figure also shows how creative Hasbro can be, when they want to. Personally, I hope Hasbro takes this approach with other aliens and background characters. Time will tell if they do something similar to this again.
WHY HE'S RANKED 12th: Putting him in a 4 pack was....kinda good and bad. Good in that he was finally available, but bad that he wouldn't be available at brick and mortar. Even worse, it was a Hasbro Pulse exclusive, and not shared with other online retailers, something I think Hasbro should change in the future. He's a great figure, but there are others on the list that are better. As you'll see in the upcoming days.
Thanks for reading! As a reminder, I'm pausing the Countdown on May 19th for the 20th Anniversary of Revenge of the Sith. Daily posts end on May 25th, with the Collector's Choice Top 2 and I'll breakdown how many votes all the figures got.
