Just Missed The Cut: VC Top 25 in 2025

Next Sunday starts my VC Top 25 in 2025, and from May 4th thru May 25th I'll be doing almost daily posts covering them. But, before I go into my top 25, I'll be looking at 5 figures who narrowly missed out being on my list, plus a couple Honorable Mentions.

1. Jango Fett

A very good figure. I don't think he should have been a deluxe figure, but paint and flame accessories made him that. The only thing wrong with this figure were the bulky holsters. Aside from that, this is worth getting. He's a perfect Geonosis Jango. Definitely one of my favorite Prequel Era figures, and he's not alone on this list.

2. Rey (Episode 9)

If you've read my blog, and my social media, you should know I cannot stand the Sequel Trilogy. In my opinion, it's a bad dream. But there are some good figures, and there are many that should get figures. That being said, Rey is an outstanding figure. A great likeness to Daisy Ridley, it's one of Hasbro's best face sculpts. She also has a lot of accessories, something that now would make her deluxe. Posing her can be a challenge as the holster doesn't always detach easily, and in case of one of my Rey figures, it snapped off her leg.

3. Imperial Light Cruiser Luke

If there was a figure I absolutely did cartwheels for, this was it. But then Bossk's Bounty confirmed a nightmare: no barbell hips on this figure. I was heart broken. But, it's a very good figure. I have a spare that I'm going to use as a custom Home One/Ewok Village Luke, just need to trim the tabbards. And the card image is perfect! Luke is my favorite OT character, and he is represented in my all time Top 25.

4. Count Dooku

This is a great figure. But some articulation hindrances kept him off my Top 25. Great head sculpt, accessories, and paint. The too tiny lightsaber bothers me, but I have plenty of older spares of his lightsaber. Another great card image as well!

5. Mandalore Ahsoka

Another Prequel era figure, had the paint apps been better, and she had barbell hips (this came out before they were standard), she'd easily be in my Top 25. Originally I thought this could serve as a base for a Rebels version of Ahsoka, but no, they'd have to do an all new sculpt for that. Aside from Luke and Anakin, Ahsoka has become one of my favorite characters.

HONRABLE MENTIONS

1. Kenner Colors Boba Fett

If I have a favorite character action figure, next to Darth Vader it's Boba Fett for me. This version was a Target exclusive and a repaint of the 2020 Boba Fett figure. This time he's in his accurate Kenner colors, and has no cape. He was a pain in the @$$ to find, but eventually was easy to after a little while. This is also my favorite card image of Boba Fett, as it recreated his 1979 debut.

2. Fennec Shand

If I could actually get her to hold her weapons, she would have been in my Top 25. The head sculpt is amazing, as is the swappable helmeted head. She can hold her bottle of Spotchka quite well, though. She's got all the modern articulation, barbell hips included. She can hold some other weapons, and if Hasbro were to make Mara Jade, I wouldn't object to using some of Fennec's parts to make her. Plus Ming Na Win was already a huge Star Wars fan, and her character is one of the better ones made by Disney, in my opinion.

3. Shadowtrooper

I'm a bigger fan of the one, true Expanded Universe, now called Legends than I am of the Original and Prequel Trilogies. This trooper first appeared in the Russ Manning daily comic strip, and served Blackhole, a villain Luke and Leia would encounter. They played a big role in the EU now called Legends novel Luke Skywalker And The Shadows Of Mindor. This figure is based off the Battlefront II (2017) video game, and is a repaint of VC 141, the Rogue One Stormtrooper. The pauldron is removable, and I use them to make some of my Stormtroopers as officers. Plus, he comes with a long rifle, something the standard Stormtroopers didn't, but should have.

None of the pictures are mine, and come from eBay, Galactic Figures, Action Figure 411, Roger's and Cowan PMK, and Hasbro. Thanks for reading! A special thanks to Chris and Nomad at BanthaSkull for allowing me to post this link in the comments section! Please share this link on your social media accounts so I can get more readers! My VC Top 25 in 2025 begins next Sunday!
