VC Endor Luke Skywalker

I hate ordering from Wal Mart. Especially when it's their exclusives. They sell out in 3 seconds, and often BEFORE THE TIME THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO GO UP FOR PREORDER!!!! I had ordered a couple of Endor Luke's because I wanted 1 on card and one to keep on my Kenner/POTF2 Speeder Bike. Then Wal Mart cancelled the order. Wal-Mart is okay ordering groceries from, well for the most part, but collectibles? Hell no! But a trip to Ollie's shocked me. In a sea of 3.75 Black Series and 6 inch Black Series General Lando's I found a rack of mint to near mint Endor Luke's! Looks like I'd get my display Luke's after all!

Now this figure is the same as VC 23 Endor Capture Luke from the head down. He has 14 POA, and can do a THWG (two-handed weapon grip) of his lightsaber easily. The paint apps are simple on this figure, gloss black boots, and belt and flat black outfit and gloved right hand. Those are all clean, and the eye paint isn't smudged. Always a plus.

This Luke, like his 1985 Kenner counterpart comes with his Skiff Guard blaster and removable poncho which is an improvement over the 2006 Endor Luke and the 2010 Endor Battle Pack Luke. The belt is a glorified fabric colored rubber band, and not detailed like the previous 2 Endor Luke's. However unlike the Kenner version, this Endor Luke DOES include his lightsaber and unlit hilt. The accessories are an upgrade.

But the disappointment I have with this figure is the head sculpt. The face is great, and it's the new Luke one made for the Jedi Destiny 3 pack & VC 175. But like the Kenner version, the helmet is molded on. Sigh. But that shouldn't stop you from headswapping because this is easy to do as the head is still ball jointed. Hasbro had done well making the helmet removable on the last 2 versions. They should have kept it on this one. I like old school nods, but old school didn't exactly do everything right either.

Now is he essential for your collection? Well it depends. If you want to keep him on a card, absolutely he's essential. He wasn't on a ROTJ card back in the day, only a POTF card (like Yakface was only available back then). If you have a spare Speeder Bike, and want a figure that fits decently on it, yes. But as I said if you have VC 23 already you probably don't need this figure. So depending on your point of view he may or may not be essential. Thankfully since this is a dull figure, not too many pictures.

Picture Key:

1. Endor Luke on the Kenner/POTF2 Speeder Bike. He sits well on it, but the handles are too large for his hands to fit around it. He doesn't need the T-bar over his legs to keep him from falling off. But if you "fly" him around you might want to put it over his legs.

2. Endor Luke standing at attention.

3. Showing off the accessories with a custom VC 23 Luke using the head from VC 175 Jabba's Palace Luke. Endor Luke holds the lightsaber, custom Luke has the hilt attached to his belt and holding the Skiff Guard blaster.

4 & 5. Just showing the 2 figures side by side. The better Endor Luke is VC 23. Thanks for reading!
