VC Obi-Wan Kenobi (AOTC)

 One thing I love about the Fan Channel (online stores) exclusive repacks of VC 1.0 figures is it gives new and old collectors a shot at getting figures to add, or if they missed out on beforehand. As a bonus, Hasbro applies photo real updates to the head sculpts to improve them, and to give collectors something besides the package date to see when it came out. When it comes to Obi-Wan Kenobi, VC 31, this is the 2nd time it has been repacked. It was originally part of the Legacy Collection in 2009 and was hard to find. Here, it returns a 3rd time. So is it worth getting? Read on to find out!


The original release made some slight color changes to TLC AOTC Obi-Wan that involved the boots and outer robes on his outfit. But he sports 14 POA and can achieve most action poses. His photo real head sculpt update makes what had been a good looking portrait even better. The paint apps are clean, so no smudges or weird eyes, at least on my samples. Could this figure be improved? Well, yes. But more on that later.

Accessories are my top must have's for any VC figure and Obi-Wan doesn't disappoint. Well, at least in what's offered. He has a large cloth robe, a lightsaber and his communicator which fits on his belt. Sadly he has no unlit lightsaber hilt to attach to his belt unfortunately. The new large robe fits better than the 2011 version, and he looks good displayed wearing it. But his lightsaber just doesn't want to cooperate (in the pictures it cooperated but I was tempted to use a spare ROTS Obi-Wan lightsaber for my pictures). It is too loose, and as you know from the movie it is a newer version of the one he lost in his duel with Maul on Naboo in The Phantom Menace. My advice is to use a spare Obi-Wan lightsaber from any of his ROTS figures and have him use that.

Now is this worth getting? Yes. I missed out originally on this & paying Scalper Bay prices for this wasn't feasible. Plus with Padawan Anakin out, you have both master & apprentice. But of course the flashback scene in Kenobi was why this figure came back, and Anakin made his VC debut (Anakin is also pictured). Now could he use an update? Yes. Find a way to give this figure the new ball jointed hips instead of the ball socket hips this figure has and then it would be definitive. But it is still a good figure, and if you missed out here's your chance to correct a collecting mistake. Plus I like the card image, and it is worthy to be displayed both loose and on card. So be sure to buy at least 2!

The Choice

 Finally posting this fan fiction! It's my retelling of the Book Of Boba Fett Finale, and instead of the 1st 2 chapters, I'm publishing the 1st 4! 2024 Last Figure Standing

  Once again, Last Figure Standing is back for 2024! The rules are simple, 10 figures in order of preference. And another reminder this is for the Vintage Collection, I don't know if there is anything similar for the Black Series but if there is I'll share it here. Also note this was written in late July, as after SDCC, I have a few changes from last year's list since some of those are being made, but I don't see any changes for when this will start. And I should point out that voting hasn't started yet, but I am simply getting a jump start as I just got the VC Jabba the Hutt yesterday, and don't have time for a review and comparison to the 2010 Legacy Collection Jabba ready to go.
