Kenner Bespin Luke Skywalker

 The final Kenner ESB figure I'll review!  So naturally I save my favorite character for last! If you recalled my Bespin Han review you'll know I bought this figure for a great price. He was in excellent condition and cost $12, with only his lightsaber. Easy buy! I wouldn't say this is the best figure made for ESB, 4-LOM, Zuckuss and Bossk could easily be the best. But this is a good figure, even if the head sculpt is a bit lazy in my opinion.

Luke has simple 5 POA, and not a lot of color. He wears a tan uniform with dark tan painted boots and a belt that is all black. I had this as a kid and wondered what the heck that stick is hanging off his left hip. Well, that's Anakin's lightsaber. Yep. It is. Look closely at his left hip. He comes with Han Solo's blaster and a yellow lightsaber. But this time the lightsaber is not part of the figure but a small hand held one that can easily fly out his hand if he battles Vader. Plus it's easily lost. But a way to make a lightsaber he can grip better is easy. Take a Q-Tip, cut off the cotton ends, and cut off one of the tips. Next cut up a plastic coffee stirrer about as large as the uncut tip of the Q-Tip. Slide the stirrer over the non cut section (or glue it on, in most cases it slides in and stays there). Then paint the blade whatever color you want. Cocktail swords work too, just cut the tips and the handguard off.

Now the head is the exact same as the 1978 Luke. Han and Leia got new portraits, but Luke was the same old Luke. However later figures, like for the 1978 Luke came painted with brown hair, and are worth more since fewer were made. Admittedly the brown hair Luke's are on my Kenner Holy Grails. This is an essential figure, no matter which variant you get. If you have a brown haired Luke you want to get rid of, and it isn't a custom please let me know. Now still, this cannot truly be a film accurate Luke as he has the wrong lightsaber color (although maybe Kenner knew Rey would find this lightsaber one day?!), but it is still an enjoyable one.
