Old Man Han's Return Could Signal Future Sequel Trilogy Action Figures

Before diving in, I'm not a fan of the sequel trilogy, often calling it the Disney Trilogy. Now while I don't enjoy it I have enjoyed some of the figures and have been hoping some VC figures get updated (Kylo Ren and the FO Stormtrooper especially!) as well as getting some figures that haven't been made yet (Episode 9 versions of Finn and Poe in his Nathan Drake outfit). But there is a sequel trilogy action figure coming out again that if it does sell well could be a ray of hope for those who want sequel trilogy figures.

No it isn't the VC but the Black Series that is repacking Old Man Han Solo, this time with an updated photo real head sculpt, which I admit looks pretty good.  The last sequel era figure was Dark Side Rey which did sell through as collectors and fans really liked the figure. I did as well, but didn't like the non removable hood and cloak (although this would also make for a good Barriss Offee Black Series figure). Han being a Legacy Character should sell a lot, right? Well, Hasbro thinks and Disney hopes he will so he gets a new shot. One thing I liked about the original release was that he looked a bit younger (as did General Leia). Here he has all his gray on full display. I'll post a picture of him for this post but I'll let you be the judge as I'll post both the 2016 and 2022 versions of Old Man Han.

So what does this mean if it fails? Well, expect more OT & Prequel era figures in future releases. Plus expect Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett and those shows to get toys. I don't think collectors or fans mind that too much. Some think there are too many Mandalorian figures coming to stores. Bo Katan, Axe Woves, Koska Reeves, Death Watch Mandos, Super Commandoes, heck the VC is getting Paz Vizla! No such thing as too many Mando's, LOL! We'll see these figures no matter what.

But what if this figure sells well? It could mean General Leia gets repacked next. Heck I've considered getting General Leia just to do a head swap (honestly the Endor Leia is an outstanding Black Series figure, swapping heads can be done but it's a lot of work). But it could also mean some more sequel characters could be made for Black Series. An Episode 8 or 9 Finn is on my wish list. Same with Episode 9 Poe, who should better interact with Zorri Bliss. The long rumored Black Series Crait Luke Skywalker would definitely get released. Maybe even a Force Ghost Luke, and an Archive Rey (who should come with her yellow bladed lightsaber).

For the VC none of those figures except for Rey, Zorri & Crait Luke (which needs to be redesigned) have been released. I'd be happy with an Episode 8 Throne Room duel Rey, and Finn and Poe in any combination of their Episode 8 & 9 outfits. But also I'd like Kylo Ren & the FO Stormtrooper to get reworked hip articulation as both figures just don't fit in with the newer figures. Hate on the sequels all you want, or love them all you want. From a toy perspective these make good toys. But if Old Man Han pegwarms, sadly I don't see much, if any sequel trilogy figures coming down the pipeline.
