Hasbro's Bare Minimum 40th Anniversary ROTJ Line

 For 40th anniversaries, when it comes to VC Hasbro has done the bare minimum, if anything at all. Yes there will be 6 inch Black Series figures and there will be a Retro Kenner wave of 3.75 figures. In 2020 we got Bespin Escape Leia for the VC and it was revealed we'd get Bespin Lando & Lobot for 2021-22. Not much. But the time to plan is now since next year at this time ROTJ will be 40. Since Hasbro has done little, this won't be a long list. It is mostly repacks which Hasbro loves doing, along with a couple repaint figures. There is 1 vehicle that is a must as well as a certain gangster who needs a return to shelves.


Vehicle

Speeder Bike with Biker Scout figure. Just repack the 2012 Speeder Bike and repack the 3.75 Black Series Biker Scout. This could be an excellent deluxe style package so no plastic and all cardboard. Now I know there will be calls for Luke and Leia to be packed with bikes, but only Luke could fit on it as the Leia sculpt is from 2007 and cannot properly fit on a Speeder Bike.

Creature Assortment

Jabba the Hutt. Not seen since 2010 as a Wal Mart exclusive, we need Jabba. But the one that came with his sail barge. Hasbro can easily make this happen, but as an exclusive to online retailers since I doubt Wally World & Target have the shelf space for this and a Speeder Bike. Jabba should have his dais, pillows, hooka pipe and Salacious Crumb. While Oola would be nice to have as well I doubt Disney would allow her to be made.

Basic Figure Assortment

1. Weequay Skiff Guard. He goes for an insane amount online and goes perfectly with the Skiff Guard 3 Pack that you can still find online at a fair price.

2. Darth Vader. We have a new Vader from Kenobi. Instead of repacking the Emperor's Wrath Vader take the new one and make him Endor Vader to pair with the Endor Capture Luke Skywalker. See how easy this is?!

3. Woof. The wool skirted Nikto is one of the more iconic Kenner figures and like the Weequay Skiff Guard needs to be repacked.

If you know me you know there is one figure that needs an upgrade, and he's my all-time favorite Star Wars character. Plus Hasbro should make at least 1 all "new" character:

4. Death Star 2 Luke Skywalker. This needs to be a brand new sculpt. He should come with a swappable chest piece to show the shirt flap up or down, and should have the new true ball joint hips. He should also come with the handcuffs and of course his lightsaber. Hasbro, you only need to do 1 new sculpt for ROTJ's 40th anniversary and this is it! A new card image is needed so go with the shot of Luke tossing away his lightsaber, or of him and Vader walking up the stairs to the Emperor's Throne.

2024 Last Figure Standing

  Once again, Last Figure Standing is back for 2024! The rules are simple, 10 figures in order of preference. And another reminder this is for the Vintage Collection, I don't know if there is anything similar for the Black Series but if there is I'll share it here. Also note this was written in late July, as after SDCC, I have a few changes from last year's list since some of those are being made, but I don't see any changes for when this will start. And I should point out that voting hasn't started yet, but I am simply getting a jump start as I just got the VC Jabba the Hutt yesterday, and don't have time for a review and comparison to the 2010 Legacy Collection Jabba ready to go.
