Hasbro Live Stream Recap
This past Wednesday Hasbro had their 1st Fan event of the year. While the VC has been the primary focus on the last several events, the Black Series won this round, but there was a big win for the Vintage Collection, as something will be offered that fans have wanted for a long time. Or short time depending on your point of view.
The Black Series Archives has been a great addition by Hasbro in repacking hard to find or expensive secondary market figures and giving them photo real head sculpts to make them different. The latest 4 additions are no exception! Dengar, Skiff Guard Lando, C-3PO (from ANH) and the one, the only, Palpy!
The Gaming Greats Black Series line gets a new exclusive, the Nightbrother Archer from Jedi Fallen Order.
Coming in the near future to the Archive line will be Grand Moff Tarkin, Chewbacca (ANH), Leia as Boushh and Old Man Han as we get a rare sequel trilogy figure. All will have updated photo real head sculpts which is something that collectors and fans wanted for Old Man Han.
Coming soon to the Black Series main line will be Saw Gerrara from Rogue One, Maul from the 7th season of the Clone Wars, and every fanboy's favorite blue skinned Jedi, Aayla Secura.
The Vintage Collection didn't get a lot of attention. Sure Yoda from ESB is available to pre-order, as the Cave of Evil version from the 3 pack is put on a single card. The 501st Clonetrooper is also available for pre-order, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. Coming soon will be the Mandalorian Commando, and Anakin Skywalker from AOTC, just in time for the 20th Anniversary and a perfect compliment to the Obi-Wan and Mace Windu repacks coming in 2022 as well.
But the big news is a new playset is coming, and no this isn't a diorama style playset. In fact, it can be used for either ROTJ, or for the Mandalorian. Or The Book of Boba Fett! So what is it?! It's the Throne Room from Jabba's Palace!! Not only does it come with the dais, which if you have Jabba you can put him in there and you have his lair from ROTJ. But it comes with a dais and a Throne that Bib Fortuna was sitting on in the season 2 of the Mandalorian finale bonus scene. Plus it comes with a single card of plump Bib, but that's not all! He comes with the dais, Throne, spit roast, and all the little baubles and trinkets that were lying around, plus the back room. The price is $230, but this will not be a HasLab but an exclusive to Hasbro Pulse, which will soon be available in more countries which is good news. But sadly, some will miss out if they want this where Pulse isn't offered. This will be shipping out in September 2023. Like HasLab projects there is a number of buyers that must be reached for the project to get funded. But it isn't a HasLab project.
There were also 2 other figures put up for preorder: The Black Series Dark Trooper, and the VC Din Djarin in his Imperial disguise on Morak. The Dark Trooper is a deluxe figure, so that price will be high (nearly $35). The Din Djarin VC figure will be the normal retail price ($14.99) as Hasbro is once again raising prices this year.
