IG-11 VC Review
Appearances can be deceiving. When IG-11 was first revealed it appeared to be a repaint of the IG-88 figure. Big mistake! Once in hand, there's a big difference. For one, he has new hands, and very neat double ball jointed shoulders. The only knock is the plastic feels a bit too rubbery, but that doesn't deter me. If I had to choose, this is the best VC figure to come out this year (2021).
Sporting 21 POA, yep. You read that right. 21 points of articulation including a unique double ball jointed shoulders, making him capable ox extending his arms out wide, something IG-88 cannot do. He can hold his weapons well in either hand as he comes with a long blaster rifle and a Stormtrooper blaster. It takes a few moments but once you do fit the weapons in either hand, they stay put. He also has a bandolier, which can be removed. When moving him, his forearms and calves could detach but it's okay. They can easily be snapped back on. If you keep him loose, you will need to use a stand to display him.
With any luck, you can find this figure at retail now. Don't pay the eBay prices for this just yet. The card image is the same as the Retro Collection figure which is a straight repaint of IG-88. The double shoulders come from the Legacy IG-86 figures. The hope of many collectors is these features are put into a new IG-88. Despite the rubbery plastic, this is a fun toy to take off the card and you will want to put him in all sorts of cool action poses.
